I am trying out a new toy in the bathtub and my hubby says I have to use the 220 instead of the 110. 220 sounds kinda fun but a little too risky. Suggestions please?

i think of in line with possibility you mistated what style of transformer you acquire because of the fact a step up transformer won't substitute the voltage from 220v to 110v. i might examine first and see which you acquire a transformer with the right common and secondary voltages which you desire to your application. Assuming that the voltages are appropriate then I supply those comments approximately your project: If the living house fuse blew right this moment once you place the 2kw load on the transformer then the transformer won't be broken. yet while it set there under overload circumstances till it went into thermal run away after which blew the living house fuse then it probable has shorted windings and is unserviceable. to boot to the exams that "technologies guy" reported confirm and examine for continuity between the common and secondary. If there is continuity between them then the transformer is unquestionably shorted and could be discarded. A serviceable transformer continuity examine ought to attempt open between common and secondary. it may teach a small resistance between the two leads of the common. it may additionally teach a small resistance between the two leads of the secondary. If the transformer meets those circumstances then without load linked to the secondary i might reconnect the common finally ends up interior the source voltage and with a voltmeter examine the secondary for correct voltage. If the secondary voltage exams sturdy then it would be secure to connect the secondary to it`s rated load.

your husband is only worried about his own needs. i say, if you want to short yourself out, that's your decision, not his. just remember his feelings next time he gets to be the toy.
