If your body can't digest it, it will "run right through you." I can't see how having an upset stomach and the runs would make you gain weight. You will lose fluids and not absorb the other nutrients you've consumed.

I heard somewhere that the moon was made of green cheese. Turns out that wasn't true also!
If you are lactose intolerant and you ingest dairy you won't gain weight, you will get sick. Your body is misidentifying a protein in the milk (lactic acid) as an invading germ. The result is that you call up your immune system for no reason. It is that call to the immune system that causes you to get sick from the milk. So, you won't gain weight but you will put your immune system under stress. Not a good idea, because you want your immune system in top shape for when a REAL invading germ comes along. If you want to gain weight, then take a sensible nutritional approach. Add additional calories in the form of whole grains, fruits, and vegatables.

Lactose is the sugar found in milk. So if you are lactose intollerant you will either not be able to digest the lactose which will most likely give you diarrhea or you will have an allergic reaction to the lactose in which case you might have symptoms ranging from itching or rashes to breathing difficulties.
But either way you wont put on weight because your lactose intollerant.

No, it is the opposite. If you eat something you are intolerant to, it will make you lose weight. Not only can you not digest it and get the good from it; the resulting diarrhea will cause you to lose weight. For instance, I am intolerant to chicken. If I accidentally eat something with chicken in it; I will lose at least five pounds.
