I want to get a tattoo in Italian for my grandfather who just passed away. I would like it to say "thank you" and was wondering if there was a more personal/loving way to say "thank you" rather than just saying "grazie".

Thanks for the responses. Are you sure that it is spelled "nonnino" instead of "nonino"?

Just "Grazie" is also fine but if you want add something you could write "grazie nonno" (thank you grandad) or even more endearing "grazie nonnino" (thank you dear grandad).
If not too long for a tattoo you could also write
"Grazie mille" (Thousand thanks) and also "Grazie mille nonno" or "Grazie mille nonnino".
It cold be also "Tante grazie nonno" or "Grazie tante nonnino".
You can choose the one you like the best.

Edit - To the below answerer Danny 86 -
Italians say thanks much more times than you can imagine. And btw if you suggest something don't write it wrong as in Italian we say "molte grazie" or "grazie molto" but not "molto grazie" as you wrote...!!

You can say "grazie mille" that is like thank you very much or you can say molto grazie but, I mean, thanks is thanks and taking into account that italians do not say thank you very often...
If you want a nice message in italian you could write something more than thank you but that's your choice

prego

They use prego as a very familiar way of thanking; it also means 'excuse me', and is used for answering the phone.
A Very useful word
(^_*)
ciao, bello!
