and it says I'm over my ideal body weight. I never thought I was fat, so are these things always right?

Well I guess the tests aren't very accurate so let me ask you guys, I'm 5'5 and 112lbs

no, it's simply a ratio of height to weight, muscle and fat weigh very different ammounts. I'm almost 15lbs out of my bmi, but I can wear a size 30 jean. It's because my chest and thighs are very muscluar. I'm not fat I'm muscluar and the bmi chart does not account for that.

no they arent. they only ask for your height, gender, weight and age and this is not enough data most of the time as muscle weighs a lot more than fat so it will say you are overweight if your worried just do some cardio everyday around an hour and you should soon lose weight

Maybe you did it wrong because 5ft5 and 112lb is not overweight according to BMI, it's actually borderline underweight unless you are a young teen.
