It seems like this should be allowed if you are a responsible roller skate rider. They made me take them of & leave with security, walking me to the door.

1. Because floors in malls are slippery and you can slip, hurt yourself and sue the mall. The mall doesn't want to be responsible in this case because the mall wasnt designed to be a roller blading rink but a shopping mall.

2. Because its dangerous! Its difficult to stop safely in a crowded shopping mall and you run a big risk of crashing into innocent people and hurting them or ruining store merchandise.

Common Sense dictates no. No matter how careful you are. If someone gets hurts or property damaged, they could sue you or the mall or both. So to prevent a court battle that cost tons of money, while lawyers like leeches get rich from other people suffering they tell you to take them off. Is enough as is with a wet floor in any store. A lot of people looking for a damn excuse to sue someone. Is not against skaters, just preventing a major disaster.

If you ever go to Minnesota, you can skate in the Metrodome in certain dates. Even they rent inline skates there. Is kind of nice to skate on a nice smooth surface. On the very top floor all the experience skaters are and the bottom floor the beginners. Is pretty fun, but is advertised like that and there are not major events to attend beside that one.

I work at a mall in the Management Office, you maybe a good roller skater, but some people don't watch where they are walking and many people can get hurt by this. Plus a mall is a place to shop, there are many places you can go to roller skate.

You might bump into other shoppers much like jet skis should be limited to a particular area at the beach to protect swimmers. Another issue will be the tile work on the floor. The hard surface of the wheels of your roller skates may chip the tiles especially when pressure is applied.

Because no matter how adept you are, the mall is no place for roller skates. There are too many people walking at a slower pace and the surface is not meant for skates. Plus - how will you see all the bargains in the windows if you are flying by in your skates.

Seems likely that they would think you're more likely to fall and get hurt, or hurt someone else, than someone who is walking. Since they have no way to assess every individual's skills at roller skating, it seems reasonable that they would choose to apply a blanket rule against skating. This protects them from liability if someone gets hurt.

Reason 1:
Could run into someone and hurt them

Reason 2:
Could run into something expensive and damage it

Reason 3:
Could knock someone off a balcony (This one's a stretch, but it is possible)

Reason 4:
Skates leave marks on the floor

The reason that they have a blanket "No Rollerskating" policy is that it is tough to determine who is and who isn't a "responsible" roller skater. It's easier for management with regards to liability concerns and it is easier for security with regards to enforcement.

okay smart one, lol. If you fall, you could get seriously hurt. And the mall does not want to get sued! And how would they know or not if you planned out the whole thing just to sue them. More importantly, even though you might be a skilled controlled skater, you could run into somebody else and hurt them. I know it's not likely but lets say a kid is not watching where he is going, walking backwards, then he walks right into you when you are flying by. He could get seriously injured, and his parents might even try to sue you. Most of these things, for you are probably not likely to happen, but you always have to be aware that something could. Listen to spamme 4444..., he's smart and knows what he is talking about!

People who are on skates or skate boards can move too fast to manver if someone like a child walks in front of them. and therefore several people get hurt. Therefore it is for public safety reasons, no skates or skate-boards are permitted, or bike riding either.

The mall is a private company, so it's their property. They can make the rules.

Also, the insurance costs for covering people getting hurt at the mall is very high - each accident makes it even higher. Not allowing folks on wheels makes sense.
