Ick! I hate them. I have them all over my forehead and nose. You can't see them from just looking at me, but I know they're there. I can see them up close in the mirror, I try to get them out myself, but for every 1 that goes away, 3 more appear! Do those microdermabrasion kits really help? Or Retinol? Also, I'm pregnant, and I heard Retinol isn't good to use during pregnancy. I'm almost 30, why does my face still think it's a teenager? Pregnancy affects your skin, but it's not that, I've always had this problem. Any solutions out there? Thanks!

I found a little trick that works for me. It's inexpensive and relaxing at the same time. When you have some time, boil water and put it in a pan. Don't let it cool all the way. Add a green tea bag and a drop of peppermint oil. Be careful not to burn yourself (as I have numerous times) place a towel over your head and the pan and breath in the calming scent as your pores steam open. Takes about five to ten minutes. Then wash your face with a natural deep cleansing cream face wash ( I suggest Burt's Bees). After, take a cold wet towel that has been steeping in an ice bath and dampen your face to close your pores. It's a little home spa remedy that should relax your mind and therefore relax baby. If you add this once a week to your beauty routine, bye bye blackheads in as little as a month! Hope it helps.

THere is also adult acne. and i'm sure the hormones arn't helping either! I know! =) Have you ever seen a dermatologist? IF it's not really acne, but just the little black heads that you want to get rid of and refine pores, you CAN try microdermabrasion. Most salons and dermatologists charge like 50-100per visit, and the ones at the store, if they don't work you can't return them. I'm telling you this because I am a mary kay consultant and our products are 100% garantreed! you can return or exchange it if it doesn't work!! here is my website www.marykay.com/emily_g if you want to check it out. one set costs 55 but lasts about 3 months. plus you get a free gift of a satin hands travel set with purchase over 40. not trying to "Sell" you, i really like to help people with skincare! My husband has the blackheads bad on his nose, and this really helps. good luck

Well first off, everyone has blackheads no matter how old you are. They are simply caused from clogged pores or sweat glands. They differ from the normal pimple because when you get a pimple, your pore is clogged AND infected.
There are lots of ways to get rid of common blackheads. If you're willing to spend a little bit of cash, neutrogena has a great microdermabrasion kit seen here: http://www.drugstore.com/products/prod.asp?pid=138570&catid=76149&trx=PLST-0-CAT&trxp1=76149&trxp2=138570&trxp3=1&trxp4=0&btrx=BUY-PLST-0-CAT&cmbProdBrandFilter=7519
If an at home kit doesn't work for you, call a local spa and book a basic facial. Some women don't like to spend hundreds and hundreds of dollars on a facial but keep your eye out for the simplest sounding ones (they're the cheapest.) Also talk to someone who works at the spa. Tell them that you are looking for a facial with pre-extraction or extraction. This is where they will rid your face of blackheads and pimples and it will prevent them from coming back.
If you want to try a face wash try one with exfoliants and a blackhead clearing solution like... http://www.drugstore.com/products/prod.asp?pid=80256&catid=48050&trx=29865&tab=1#1
That has worked absolutely great for me in the past, and you can even use it after you get your facial to keep your skin clear from blackheads. The only thing is that i would switch between something like that and a foaming cleanser just to make sure you don't dry out your face. Make sure your using a moisturizer with SPF in it, because sunscreen and sun protection is the key to keeping beautiful, young, healthy skin.
Hope that helps (:

Hi dear,
Pleaaaase don't do anything while you are pregnant. Try to avoid all exfoliating procedures, because right now hormonal changes are raving through your body and removing layers of skin may leave you with permanent scarring or uneven pigmentation. So no microderma, no AHA or BHA peels, no scrubs either until you finish nursing your child.
Until then, use a good moisturizer and a pure cleanser and you'll be fine.
Good luck!

honey alone as a mask works very well.. leave it on for twenty minutes and then rinse off..
another thing i do as an exfoliate is i scrub my face with an electric toothbrush.. it's sounds kinda weird but it works.. it really cleans out your pores and removes dead skin, oil and dirt.. you can use any scrub ya. and i do it about three times a week..
only wash your face when you wake up in the morning, before you go to bed, and after exercise.. excess washing makes your face produce extra oil..
warm water opens pores and cold closes them.. so wash with warm and rinse with cold..
and watch the make up you use.. a mineral make up is much better for your skin.. it doesn't clog your pores or cause break outs.. i recommend bare minerals..
and get a good toner and moisturizer.. i use the garnier nutritioniste moisturizer.. and lemon juice is a good toner..
drink lots of water.. eat healthy.. and take vitamin e, vitamin c, zinc and b vitamins..
hope this helps..

Cleanse your face with unboiled milk, gently rub a coarse cloth dipped in milk to remove the blackheads. Steam your face with herbs like lavender, lemon peel and mint leaves added to the water and let the skin soak up its goodness. Check out http://useinfo-blackhead.blogspot.com/ for more useful tips to control blackheads.
