That atheism is a religion.
Or that atheists "hate god."
OR that we're immoral.

Well I'm not part of a religious group considering I am an atheist, but we are stereotyped as being guilt free hedonists.

Quite seriously, I ignore stereotypes because they arise from ignorance of the reality of any group. It's easier to label than to understand.

A stereotype can't affect my relationship with God so I just ignore it and get on with my life.

I'm not a religious group. But they consider me being an atheist and a lesbian to belong two distinct 'groups (they are not groups)

But the stereotypes that come to me from religionists are as follows.

Abomination
Unwashed
Unclean
Dirty
Evil
Diseased
Stupid
Dumb
Unsaved
'Satan's pawn'
Morally equivalent to a murderer
Morally equivalent to a rapist
Morally equivalent to a paedophile
Self-worshipping
Irresponsible
Proof of Armageddon
Ignorant
Cowardly
Immoral
A blight on society
Shouldn't be near children (including my own)

All the above and more. If you dare even mention it they call you a 'whiner' or "it's your choice to be bla bla(all those things)".

So I usually just tell them to "**** **** and to **** my *** and why not *** your ***** you ***** of **** "...

...before they even begin*

*just joking. But no, sometimes I fight back.

I am Wiccan.

1) We worship and entity known as Satan. False.

2) We sacrifice animals and children. False.

3) We ride around on brooms. False - but I do wish there was some truth in that!

To the Atheists answering this question..I know it offends you when I or anybody else claim Atheism is a religion, but simply by answering the question you are claiming to be a "religious group".

When I tell people I'm Jewish, they ask why I don't have more money. I converted, and I'm not stingy so it offends me a bit. I just tell them I have to be Jewish at least 15 years before I inherit my diamond mine.

Not religious.

But the most offensive stereotypes of Atheists is that we don't have Morals or meaning in life.

That or that we deserve eternal torture because we require tangible evidence for belief. That is abhorrent.

That Christians are "self righteous". Self righteous denotes righteousness through self. Anyone, who thinks they're a good person because they don't hurt anybody is "self righteous".
Christians on the other hand know that their self righteousness has no value in the eyes of Yahweh and are in need of a Savior.
