Like all other muscles, the brain gains strength through use/practice/exercise.

Good nutrition/adequate sleep and exercise help the body stay fit. A fit body supports all the activities of the brain and thus helps increase learning ability.

Doing puzzles, brain-teasers, reading books are great activites to help increase your general learning ability. Also, spend time with intelligent people. The Bible says, "iron sharpens, iron; so one man sharpens another.". and "he who walks with wise men will himself become wise, but the companion of fools suffers harm." Book of Proverbs (Holy Bible)

Brains are just like muscles - the more you use them, the better they work. No, this isn't a smart-alek answer. It has been proven that you can increase your IQ by exercising your brain. Reading and writing, solving puzzles (word puzzles are best but all puzzles, even jigsaw, work), and games (board games and others thinking games, NOT video games) are excellent ways to increase your overall learning capacity. Passive games like video games, are less effective. TV and movies have some effect, but not as much as those others I mentioned. DO, DO, DO! Good exercize and nutrition help also. A good vitamin suppliment can help.

Mostly - work that brain!
