Need Help Connecting Sony Home Theater Components?

Question

The manuals are too complicated to understand.....

Basically…..”what” cable is connected to “what” connection port on “which” device???

I have the 4 following cables:
2 – Belkin PureAV™ HDMI™ Interface Adio Video Cable - 8'
1 - Ultra Series THX 1000 Digital Coaxial Interconnect - 4'
1 - Monster Cable Digital Optical Audio Cable - 6ft

Components:
1. 40" BRAVIA® LCD Flat Panel HDTV (model KDL-40V3000)
2. BRAVIA® Theater System (2.1 Channel) (model DAVX10)
3. Sirius S50 Home Docking Station (I can’t remember how the home dock connects to the receiver)
4. Sony Blu-ray Disc™ Player Model Number: BDP-S300

The Blue-ray DVD has the following inputs and outputs:

1 HDMI Cable from DAVX10 to Bravia TV if you don't have an HD Cable or sat box, otherwise just use your Blu-Ray for DVD watching as it will do just as good a job.
1HDMI Cable from BDPS300 To Bravia TV.
1 Coax Digital audio cable from BDPS300 To DAVX10.
Connect the Dock to RCA audio input (Red&White) on DAVX10.
If you have an HD Cable or Satellite box, connect the digital audio outputs (coax or optical is fine) from that to the DAVX10. Connect the HDMI Cable from the cable/sat box to the TV for best picture.
If you don't have a cable/sat box connect the analog audio output from the TV to the DAVX10 and set the audio output in the TV menu to FIXXED. You may have to turn the TV speakers off to do that.
Now all you have to do is select the correct inputs on the TV and DAVX10 for your desired source.

Unfortunately your Receiver has no HDMI inputs so you will not be able to route your Blu-Ray HDMI through it.

Remember this, your receiver is the heart of your system, it controls everything. Components are output devices, except for the monitor. The receiver is an input device.

1. Connect the HDMI cable from the receiver output to your LCD HDMI input.
2. Connect an HDMI cable from your Blu-Ray to your receiver HDMI Input.
Assuming your speakers are already wired, (either to your TV or to the receiver), you are good to go.

Hi.Have a look at this diagram and see if helps you.It has got to the stage where manuals are useless unless you are a natural audio and video geek who understands them!
If the manuals are too hard to understand that is a bad reflection on the manufacturer of the equipment. Although i am not surprised, they are cramming more and more circuits into a receiver, they are becoming a nightmare to operate.Where is the joy in that ? I would not buy anything from a manufacturer of equipment if the manual was written in a way that a novice can't understand it.

If you use the fiber optic audio cable output from the TV to the Sony system, connect the PS3 to the TV with HDMI and you should be good to go...AND in 5.1. Don't listen to whoever said that doesn't work. He's not using fiber optics. If the TV doesn't have fiber optic output you should be ashamed of buying a Vizio. in fact, you should be ashamed anyway...........buying a TV at Costco...
