My son keeps asking for grilled cheese, but when I put the cheese on the grill, it just melts through the grates and a little bit burns on! Nothing is left remotely edible! What am i doing wrong?! I usually just end up pan frying a hunk of velveeta but he knows the difference! Any help would be appreciated!

Sir, you take a piece of bread, butter one side and put butter side down on the frying pan. After it's been there for a few seconds put the cheese on the unbuttered side. Then put another piece of butter bread (butter side up) on top. Wait a minute or two for the bottom side to grill to a nice brown crisp. Flip the sandwich over and wait for the other side to look very similar. You now have a grilled cheese sandwich.

Love you heart. Your son wants a Grilled Cheese Sandwich!!
Not a hunk of cheese put on a grill.
Follow directions someone gave for a grilled cheese sand witch and you will have it.
Good luck. And remember practice makes perfect!!

Make the toast and spread with butter and add cheese. Place on a baking tray and grill on the 2nd top shelf in the oven until the cheese has melted.

Yeah, he probably wants a grilled cheese SANDWICH! Cook it in a pan or on a griddle. Put butter on one slice of bread, place it on the pan/griddle butter side DOWN, quickly put the cheese slices (Kraft singles type), then put another buttered bread on top--this time butter side UP so when you flip it the butter hits the pan! You CAN grill cheese--again, on a pan or griddle, but not the orange slices! Queso panela is great for grilling!

You have to make a cheese sandwich first, then grill that. You never put the actual cheese on the grill.

I think that your son may be wanting you to make him a grilled cheese SANDWICH......put the thinly sliced cheese between two slices of bread, butter the OUTSIDE of one slice of bread and place it in a meduim hot skillet, then butter the top slice of bread, and watch it carefully for about 2 minutes, once it's browned on on side, turn it over and brown the other side......Bang, you have a grilled cheese sandwich!!! Enjoy!!

Grilled cheese sandwich, not grilled cheese.

Just be a man and pan fry the velveeta. If your son doesn't eat it, then tough for him. He needs to learn that you're not there to cater to him. He gets what he gets and he should like it. If he still puts up a fuss, then a couple swats should set him straight. You don't want a whiny, crybaby for a son do you?

That's just life.

Edit...
On a similar note, my boy wanted Boston baked beans. I told him when he can afford to fly us to Boston, we'll have Boston baked beans. He was cute when he wanted a Baby Ruth. I didn't know he wanted a sister. Me and the misses have been working on that.

Kenny you need to either learn how to cook or think up better questions! Use a pan.
