Depends upon where you found them.
Yes, they should still be good if they were in your pantry.
If you found them in the trunk of your car, I'd be a little more leery since car interiors go through higher temperatures in the summer, but they still should be edible.

I know this question because asa child my mother and ohter mothers purchased heavily marked dwon items from the supermarket like muesli bars etc
Ok the used by date is an indication that they will taste fresher if eaten before but they wont go off. If you look at the ingreidents all those products wont go bad but the sugars may of hardened. I would try one and see if they don't taste stale or the sugars have not gone strange but there is nothing in a granola bar that will go off. Not Quite right stores in Australia make a living selling items that are very close to the expiry date and they are fine. Things I have found which are not good to buy near or on the expiry is meat, milk and yogart and custard - the dairy go sour although I have had out of date cheese and thats been fine.
Crisps etc can go soft and taste stale.

These are "best by" or "sell by" dates they are not expiration dates. Know the difference. Unless the packaging is bulging, they aren't rotten. You smelled them and thought they smelled fine. Obviously, you have never smelled rotten food before. In this case, the flavors might be off or they may taste stale. Most packaged foods have enough preservatiives in them to last for a very long time.

yes, most times those dates are put on the box to protect the food company from being sued if you decide to eat them after a long time. I'm sure you'll be fine, but eat at your own risk!

If they don't have mold on them, they should be okay, they might be a little stale though. I've done it a lot before and it was fine.
