I think that Satan and God and the Holy spirit are all merely extensions of us. While there are few things more comforting that hearing from another person who shares your exact beliefs (hence the popularity of various religions), I can't agree completely. To me, logically, if Satan is not a being, separate and distinct, then neither can God be. It seems to me that you are questioning your religion more than anything. There is nothing wrong with that. It simply means that you are no longer satisfied with answers that other people have to offer you and are now ready to seek your own answers. This is a natural evolution of spiritual seeking. At some point you HAVE to seek your own truth.
My belief is this: No man can come between you and God. Not Jesus, not Pastor Bob, not your mother or father, and not me. YOU must seek a realationship with him to discover what his message is for you. His message is not the same for everyone. You must seek your own Truth in order to continue the process of growth. It seems that you have reached a point where you have outgrown religion. It happens. There's no reason to freak out. It's possible to abandon religion without abandoning God. Follow your heart, follow the voice of God. Nothing more is really needed.
With Love,
Shane K.

The way I always understood the concept of Satan is that he's not some two-horned creature or a spirit who goes around whispering bad things in your ear, but I always understood Satan to be our evil inclination.
I know you said that you don't want to hear it from atheists, but I just wanted to tell you how I saw Satan while I was a believer. Hope it helps.

Didn't Jesus get tempted by him? If Jesus knew he existed, how do you doubt?
Too many folks want religion to be "a la cart", like a restaurant without combos.
"I'll take God from column A, and heaven from column B, but I'll skip the devil and hell columns".
"I'll take salvation, and eternal life, and all the perks, but I'm not interested in the part about obeying, and not sinning, and serving Him by working for the kingdom of God."
Have you ever heard the saying, "They want to have their cake, and eat it too."?
The Bible, taken literally, clearly states the devil exists. Satan is mentioned by name in 47 Bible passages.
The devil is mentioned in 33 more. He is described as the one who tempted Adam and Eve into original sin in the Garden of Eden; he is the one who tempted Jesus in the desert.
According to the Bible the Devil exists and is more active today than he ever was in the past.
Believe it or not, of all the enemies the human race has, he is the most dangerous.
There are responsibilities that come attached to privileges.
Don't be a Christian only on sunny days. He died for us. We owe Him all...even our very lives!
Perhaps the devil doesn't appear to us in person. Perhaps he doesn't caper about with a pitchfork, with horns and a forked tail.
But we may know he is there by the way he acts, just as we may know a skunk is near through its unmistakable stench.
John:8:44: "Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it."

IF you believe then i would follow this rationale:
God gave humans free will yes? (apples and all that stuff), now there MAY have been some evil force saying 'eat the apple', but it COULD be that it was mere curiosity caused by god saying 'DONT eat the apple'.
Could it therefore be that 'evil' is actually the biblical scholars description of 'curiosity', or 'disobedience'?
Believe what you want, but read the bible (and preferably the Torah too), and make up your own mind - rather than following blindly what the religous 'experts' tell you.

G/gods, angels, Satan and demons are all products of the human imagination. It's all superstitious Voodoo to me. I do believe in the Life Force which is completely natural, IT is not a G/god however. It sounds like we are kinda on the same page.

Aw, don't be afraid to speak your heart. I think people are well received when they are accepting of various POVs and sincere in their question.
FWIW I view "Satan" as a representation of a concept rather than an entity. It would be accurate to say I don't believe in Satan either ~ at least not the traditional definition of Satan ~ but I am not expected to believe in him/her/it.

Hon,
I do not want to sway you either way. What I will present is that you can`t have no God, if there is no satan. No satan, if there is No God.. It is pretty much pointless one without the other..

Well .... I don't understand how you ended up believing this, but Jesus clearly taught that Satan is real. You cannot pick and choose which of His teachings you accept or reject -- it just doesn't work that way. I suggest you pursue formal Bible study with your Pastor or a mature Christian who can clear up your confusion.

You have removed yourself from satans influence by living and thinking a certain way, but make no mistake, he is real. Keep your guard up.
