Don't be fooled by buildings built by western companies and paid for by oil wealth.
Every apparently rich Muslim area is simply an oil rich area and all are owned by family dynasties. The fact is in all the vast Islamic world consisting of 1.4 billion people there is no single example of the sort of lifestyle modern people want. No wonder they escape in millions and come to the west, let us hope keeps western and does not turn Islamic.

Human rights groups such as Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch have repeatedly expressed concern about the state of human rights in Saudi Arabia
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
United Arab Emirates:
• no citizens' right to change the government and no popularly elected representatives of any kind
• flogging as judicially sanctioned punishment
• arbitrary detention
• incommunicado detention permitted by law
• questionable independence of the judiciary
• restrictions on civil liberties--freedom of speech and of the press, and assembly
• restrictions on right of association, particularly for human rights groups
• restrictions on religious freedom
• domestic abuse of women, sometimes enabled by police
• trafficking in women and children
• legal and societal discrimination against women and noncitizens
• corruption and lack of government transparency
• abuse of foreign domestic servants
• restrictions on and abuses of workers' rights.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Quatar:
Trafficking in persons, primarily in the labor and domestic worker sectors, was a problem. Discrimination against women, both legally and culturally based, limited their full participation in society. Bidoons (Arabic for "without" meaning "without citizenship"; people with residency ties by not documented nationals) unresolved legal status resulted in discrimination against these noncitizens with residency ties. Worker rights were severely restricted, especially for expatriate laborers and domestic servants.

Islam is for all ages of man, modern living in the west is ill concieved and managed by incompetents, there is no reason to suggest that islam has failed the modern world, The modern world has failed its people, Those who choose to be governed other than by the laws of god and prefer to be told by a collective of individuals, who then choose the laws to install on populations for their own agenda have failed in the modern world, we all have the choice to be different, just because we muslims dont fall into your insecurity trap by being led down the garden path to oblivion and spend all our money on the way, doesnt mean we are in the dark ages. We are enlightened, just because there seems to be trouble in the world, doesnt mean islam has failed, it means people have failed, and have not managed to recognise the truth of this world, night clubs are great at night if you drink, but in the true light of day and sober, the illusion is as clear as crystal, the aftermath is always untidy, people fail, falsehood fails, the truth is always clear and rock solid, Islam stands as a rock for men of understanding, all praise to allah

It's done a poor job of having much of a modern world anyway.
Those parts that are unquestionably modern will probably be in the Shia law gutter soon enough.

I am a Christian, but whilst you might not like Muslims, you have to admire their religious zeal. For a devout Muslim, religion is all, it embraces their whole lifestyle from cradle to grave. Now that's the influence Christianity used to have some 500 years ago when there were a lot less material goods. In the modern age, Christianity has failed to provide for Christians, as the God is now money and possessions. So I think religion as a whole as failed the modern world.

Islam has not provided anything for Muslims to bring them into the modern world. Any Muslim wanting a modern life must come to the west because nowhere in the Islamic world can you find a modern lifestyle.
West = riches for most people. Islamic countries = poverty for most people

Depends on the country. Some Islamic countries are very backwards thinking, and yet there are many that are modern and forward thinking.

Time, Islam and Muslim are 3 different concepts and words. You have Muslims, who practice Islam with hearts of altruism, wisdom and kindness, and you have those who call themselves Muslim who twist Islam into an excuse to execute their hateful plans and unkind behavior. All of these are in the "modern world", so I don't understand your point.
