Let me put it this way.
If ANYONE had spat on me, I would be posting this from Lucasville State Penitentiary.

I separated from active duty in July1976. VietNam ended before I was 18, so I was never there.
Still while exiting SFO to get a cab I was attacked by a women and a man with her. She was slapping at me screaming "Baby Killer" and spitting at me. I started to go after the guy when 2 SFPD came in and subdued the 2. The cop that went after the guy had his forearm across the guys throat up against the wall and the feet were NOT on the floor. I felt vindicated and left like I was told.
While looking for work I was asked twice by women "how many babies did you kill" and 1 guy that wanted to know what it felt like to squeeze the trigger on a VC. None of them could accept that I had NEVER been in combat.
In the following 4.5 years in a Reserve unit at the Presidio SF there were maybe 7 - 10 incidents with the "Baby killer" crap. I had always just kept moving when it happened. 1 women decided she was going to follow me and keep up the screaming. I stopped and told her that "yes" I was a baby killer and the reason was that I did not feel it was right to BBQ them while still alive. That shut her up so fast I used it a couple more times.
It is not going to happen to me at this point. If I see it happen I will end up in jail for beating the crap out of the moron!

No beacuase back then it was the first times that war recordings were released to the public and simply nobody knew how to act back then, so you cannot spit on anyone. what happend, happend and it should be left alone.

Did you get spit on? If not, its not really any of your business, now is it? Hopefully, your mother raised you better than to go around spitting on people....

People felt very passionately about the Viet Nam War during the 60's. I wouldn't hold it against him. His feelings may be very different now.

No, because that probably happened before people learned to distinguish between supporting the troops vs. supporting a war.
