I thought someone might have some experiences with dream interpretation. I had the WEIRDEST dream last night, and woke up really disturbed by it. Please lend your insight.
I’m at the horse races and it’s the Kentucky Derby. There’s 26 horses in the race, which is way too many. I have a lot of experience with horses and that’s just too many to have out on the track. I think that as the race is about to start. Anyways, the race goes off anyhow. At the beginning, a bunch of the horses get squeezed out, a horse trips, and a jockey falls off. It’s all a big surprise. The other horses that got squeezed out just get stopped by their jockeys. One of the jockeys tries to give his horse to the jockey who fell off. He tells him that he’s the one who deserves to run in the race, so the fallen jockey should get on his horse and try to catch up. The fallen jockey is telling him no, he can’t.

But while all the jockeys are standing around, their horses take off running after the ones still in the race. The pack of them catches up and they’re all running together, and some of the jockeyless horses start to lead. Then a bay (brown) one trips and a grey one trips over him, catches a foot in the bay horse’s reins, and starts to drag it while the horse is getting stepping on by all the others. (In real life, the reins would break…but anyway…) So the poor little brown horse is getting completely trampled and dragged. Meanwhile, other horses are falling and tripping, too.
The race ends. The horse ambulances (trailers) come out on the track. The winner ends up being the fifth or sixth horse across the finish because so many horses didn’t have jockeys or fell at the end. I don’t even remember seeing the winner. The ambulances take a long time since they have so many down horses.

Finally, they hook one trailer up to another after another. There’s three horse trailers hooked together to take out some of the fallen horses. As they go by, you can’t see a horse in the first trailer (so it’s laying down or dead). My horse—an Appaloosa that is not a racehorse—is standing in the second trailer. You can’t see a third horse in the third trailer, either. So it is laying down or dead.
So then, I walk to the backside of the track where the trailers are parked. My Mom is with me. I look in the first trailer, and a blanket is covering the grey horse. You can just see his legs sticking out with grey leg wraps on. He’s dead. Then I go to the third trailer, and the bay horse is dead in that trailer. She isn’t covered up. My Mom looks at the horse and tells me her name is Mary. (I’m Catholic, weird…) I start petting the horse and she has a thick, soft, velvety winter coat. (A racehorse wouldn’t have this in real life).

I keep petting the horse, looking at it, and thinking that her name is Mary. She isn’t dirty at all even though she was dragged and trampled, just dead. Then a Mexican stablehand comes and pulls the blanket over her so that just her legs are sticking out, too. The dream ends as I am standing there thinking about how soft her coat was.
I love animals, so the dream was really bizarre and disturbing. Does anyone have any idea what it means?
