Would the European Pope instantly die or simply be instantly excommunicated?

None of the other Popes who had sex -- and fathered children -- died instantly. So I guess the current Pope wouldn't either.
I can't comment about the excommunication thing.

Hi,
As mentioned many popes had sex and children and the prohibition on marriage and celebecy requirements came in the 12th century.
The sexual act outside of marriage though considered sinful in all Christian denominations is no ground for excommunication in the Catholic church.

A lot of Popes had children I never knew that until I went to Italy! I saw the pope on Palm sunday (Im a protestant) but you know what, he is really a good man, I got this wonderful good vibe from him if you know what I mean. He really is a good person. If he has sex, it would mean that he loves the woman more than the Church, that would be real true love.

I believe there were some medieval Popes that threw orgies. I need to find their names again, but they were famous womanizers.
