Hi Everyone.
I have been taking a Cardio/Kickboxing class and tomorrow we are gonna run a 1.5 or 3 mile run. What should i eat to maximize my energy. We did this run at the beginning of the semester and I want to 'hopefully' better my time. Our workouts have been progressing in intesity since the start. But I seem to get a little tired with running, not so much with the cardio. Thanks for all your help!

Okay...beans for breakfast does not sound too good...neither lentils, black eye peas, barley, whole oats
But as far as Whole Oats? Can you give some 'good breakfast' & snack examples. I do have some Almonds and granola bars, but I need something to fill me up, class isn't until 11am

For that short a distance, you're not challenging your glycogen reserves, so anything you eat beforehand is as much to settle your stomach as anything. My usual would be a bagel and a banana, or maybe a powerbar 90 minutes to 2 hours before.

Night before doesn't matter all that much as long as you don't load up on fat or red meat. Those will make you sluggish.

Probably more important is your warmup. Right before the start, an easy mile jog, or 10 minutes on a spin bike (if available) will get your heart rate up to operating range. You want to be able to go hard right at the gun to get your best result.
