We are a country of immigrants, and IMO we should allow workers (like gardeners, pasants and builders) from poor countries come to work for some months and then return to their homelands. What do you think? Are we too racist to do this?

Peasants, I meant. Too much hate in most of your answers, don't you think?

"Proper channels" mean paying 100 bucks just to get an appointment and then be rejected for not fulfilling the requirements (being poor). I consider this is hatred towards any alien, and it is more expensive than getting into Disneyland.

Intolerance and distrust was the first Americans justification for stealing the land from the natives. It was racist attitudes like that which enabled the conquest of the new world.

Lets keep in mind that immigration and racism are not the same thing.
I have no problem with anyone going through the LEGAL process coming to the United States.
I only have a problem if people use an ILLEGAL process to come to the United States.
There is no country in the world that does not try and control their borders except Mexico and no one says anything to them.
If people try and sneak into South Korea and are caught and deported are they racist or just protecting their borders?
I say they are just protecting their borders and they have the right to do that just as the United States has the right to do that without being called racist.
What do you think?

First of all the pilgrims were 400 years ago. Secondly we are not a nation of immigrants. We are comprised overwhelmingly of native born americans.
the Nation of immigrants crap is the mantra coined by the pro illegal Hispanic crowd to lamely try to justify their position.
That is like saying the bathtub was empty when you turned on the water therefore you can never turn off the water. Now it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know what happens if you don't turn off the faucet. Besides, they really don't mean everyone, only those of the "race". The real racists here are the La Racist crowd, funded by our Government.

Racist? Against whom? Maybe you mean bigoted. We don't want illegal aliens here. What you are proposing is a guest worker program, but that is only for migrant workers, and we do have a visa program for that. It is not for gardeners and builders, we don't need anybody else from any countries to do those jobs. I don't know what a pasant is.

As for migrants, Cesar Chavez was against those illegally coming into the country for migrant work. He wanted those here who were migrants to be here legally, so wages wouldn't be depressed. We have already allowed too many people in here who are migrant workers, and don't need anymore either.

Almost every candidate wants a guest worker program, so the migrant workers will at least be documented. But will they go home? Ah, there's the rub.

Wow, you consider it hatred to go through the proper channels?

What is it that you don't understand about illegal immigration and legal immigration. What we don't like is illegal immigration and for your information, no country in the whole world like illegal immigration. Do you know why you call us Racist, or is it that you don't know the different between one or the other. People that stay over their visas in the USA are the ones that have problems People that come legally doesn't have any problems, only the ones that are here illegally are the ones that are having problems. Please read more and be more open and you will see the light.

Where did you get that analogy? Pilgrims were the first European settlers, lots of others here now. And it is not racist to want our immigration laws and other laws to be complied with, now is it? Illegals are not wanted here, we're tired of supporting the dissenters and their 25 member families. Sorry, that's not racist, it's a legal issue as well as an econimic one, and a naural rescouces one as well.

Last time i checked we were a independent nation with independent borders with our own government.

Our laws state that it is illegal to enter our country with out going through the proper channels. Simple as that.

Race has nothing to do with immigration. You guys just bring up the race card cause you want to make conservatives sound like racists. It don't matter if all the sudden people from Mars started showing up illegally. I'd say the same thing.

Stop talking about race when talking about immigration

I have noticed that the farmers that need the worker are not getting them, with 15 to 30 million illegal immigrants in our country you would think that there would be plenty of immigrants to do the work that people like you say that Americans wont do.
Check it out, over half of them are on welfare and taking jobs away from Americans and LEGAL IMMIGRANTS!
I just wish that people would shutup and admit that ILLEGAL IS ILLEGAL!

This issue has nothing to do with racism. And if they came here legally to work in the fields and such for a few months then went home we wouldn't have a problem with it. I see no reason to charge them a fee for this privilege. As long as they go home after the job is done or their time is up that would be sufficient.

Racism and immigration policy are two different things.

Prior immigration / citizenship included the concept of abandoning your home country and embracing the values and core beliefs of the country your pledging your allegence to.

Does a gardner do that for 3 months??

We still have a liberal welfare policy, -and I have a problem with Amercan's sitting on their a$$, -collecting our tax dollars, -rather than working the field or cutting grass. Cheap un-educated labor immigrants is not the economic solution for are cultural (welfare) problem.

Legal Immigrants? Come on in.
Illegal? Stay out. We don't need more criminals.
It's a very simple concept to grasp.

Btw, illegal isn't a race. It's the status regarding a persons right to be in this country.
