I often give calendars as gifts. It's way of giving a gift that will last more than nine days... Have you seen the hilarious 'waterskiing Westies' calendar, available at those 'Calendar Club stalls usually seen in shopping centres at this time year. It's a FAB idea, and so funny. Your friend will love it

Yes, I think it's okay. For me, it wouldn't be a proper Christmas season if no one gave me a calendar for the upcoming year. Since your friend loves westie dogs, a calendar with them would make a lovely gift.

yeah, sure, in this case because it is clear you showed an interest. Its not like it was some free calendar from the Pizza place. If, judging from past years or whatever you expect she will get you something expensive consider getting a supplementary present of a similar value. e.g. if last year she got you an ipod it would be a bit mean to give only a calendar but if you are friends it will not be a real big deal anyway.

For many years, I would select a calendar with a theme I liked and specifically put it on my Christmas list. It's a great time of year - the selection is there, they're readily available, and you'll know that you have it a week or so before it's needed. Great gift idea!

It sounds like the calendar has a theme she would enjoy and you did not just pick some random calendar. You put thought into it, I think it's an appropriate gift.

I always get a calendar for christmas. That way the giver knows that you'll think of them every month for the next year. Everyone needs calendars...they're the perfect gift (also, because they're a pain to buy since you 'need' them...)

It's a great gift, and as a personal touch, why don't you go ahead and write down the significant dates that you know in the calendar... like if she's married, put her anniversary on there, hers and her friends' birthdays, etc. It'll show you put some time and effort into her gift.

My fiance gave me an awesome calendar last Christmas, and I loved it...kinda sad that I will have no use for it in 27 more days. But yea, it is just fine to give calendars.

My brother gives me a calendar every year. It's always by the same artist, Sinclair Stratton. She does watercolors of dogs and cats. She's a friend of my brother's. While I haven't met her before, I have met a couple of her models. I think it's a wonderful gift.

One of my friends buys me a calendar every year and it’s always themed on what I like. I love the fact she buys me something practical and something visually pleasing to look at all year round. I am sure your friend would be happy to receive one as thought as gone in to your gift.
