A fraud alert or credit freeze is the best thing for you right now. Don't change your social security number. That's not always a good solution nor a perfect one. You'll have to start all over building credit with that number.

Change your bank account numbers and credit card numbers. Check your existing accounts for charges you didn't make. If you find any, call them and dispute them.

Get your credit report and look for accounts you didn't open. If you find any, call them, dispute and have them closed.

Document everything you do, who you talk to, when you called, etc.

Do this *right now*!

you need to contact all 3 credit bureaus and put a fraud alert on your accoutn so that you MUST be contacted before anyone even breathes on your account. You also can change you ss# but if that seems like a bit much you can just contact the social security office and let them know that your information has been stolen. Change accountnumbers for your bank and even for credit cards that were not stolen...reember since they have your ss# they can find out other information.....keep an eye on your credit....if you get any "thank you for opening this acct" letters in the mail report it IMMEDIATELY......same thing happened to me. its a pain to change everything but having a peace of mind in the end is well worth it
