Isn't the reason for the season really the phat lewt and the scrilla?

Sure, Jesus is cool and all, it's nice of him to let us all celebrate his birthday with him. And it's cool that the Pagans allow us to partake in some of their practices, too. But regardless of the "why" we celebrate, I think we can all agree on one thing.

As a kid, when Christmas was exciting, and the world seemed innocent, wasn't it really about the booty (piratey version, not derriere) under the tree?

Best wishes to you all this holiday season, may you score big in the present payload!

That was part of it for me, but not all.
It meant that I got to see ALL of my family in one night, and get to listen to Cheech and Chong's Radio Christmas Special.
It meant I got to play with my two uncles and watch them do stupid stuff like let the other wrap their whole head in ducktape!*LOL*
It meant I got to help my grandfather smoke his ribs and he taught me which beers tenderize best.
Getting up in the middle of the night and just sitting their and watching the Christmas tree with the lights on in the dark. Nothing stands out clearer than that.
Waking up my little brother and seeing the look on his face, always, every year.
Staying up and waking up my little sister and tell her she just missed Santa Claus.
The food, the candy, the food, ooooh chocalet............
My mom's mulled cider.
Having my grandfather play with me and not be a basterd even if he was drunk or not. That's an irishman for you.
The food, and to think I had a weight problem.........
The lights and decorations.
The smell of the Christmas tree.
Beliving in Santa and the reindeer.........
Makes me a little homesick, thanks, Joe. Make me cry.

If you can afford to give him the gift, then give it to him. It doesnt matter the cost, if you can afford it, you know he will love it! If you really don't have the money, then just at leats give him the driver head cover. I think that is reasonable. My fiance and i are trying ot save now for a house and what not and i told him besides the ring, i dont really want anything for christmas lol I would much rather have a house and pay my bills off. It's up to you, even though i would probably just buy him the most expensive thing anyway, b/c i just want to give him everything, but i know i cant afford it so i have to hold back lol

You are right, as a Christian my kids understand the meaning of Christmas but that is not what they look forward to on Dec 25th it is all about the presents. But, a relationship with God is an everyday occurrence and we should not need bi-yearly reminders (Easter/Christmas). I actually avoid Church on these two days because it is too crowded and bothersome. I would rather study with my family at home and avoid the one day worshipers.

Christmas is a pagan holiday & is not even the time that
Yeshua was born, all the shepherds & sheep would have been frozen in the snow & cold. He was probably born at
the Feast of Tabernacles in Sept/Oct He came & tabernacled
amongst us. See John 1; 14. He came & dwelt among us.

Oh definitely.

My family wasn't religious at all, really, far back as I can remember. It's not like we prayed or had any special traditions or even went to church.

Christmas was entirely a commercialized holiday, all about the toys and other things you get. =]

Actually, the year I was 9, the booty was ALL I was thinking about -- and it felt really flat, even though I got some nice stuff.

That said, I really do like to get -- and give -- nice stuff, and then we all sit around playing/reading/eating...

Arrrr!

I like to think of Christmas as a chance to give, and receive... I want to be thoughtful about the gifts I give, and be appreciative of the gifts I receive!

Baby Jesus isn't really relevant to me.

Considering that Jesus actually told us NOT to celebrate his birthday, but his death...oh well. Maybe they should change the name of Christmas. Call it Merchantmas, or Paganmas, or even better, Constantinemas, for it was he who thought it up.

Yes it was, and then I grew up and Christmas took on a new meaning.
Now I will fly 7000 miles just to be with my daughter on Christmas.
