If they take you to court and get a judgment and wage garnishment is allowed by your State, then yes they can, they can also attach bank accounts and file liens on any property you may own like cars, boats, land and homes.

What are they going to garnish your wages with? Ketchup and pickle relish? Of course, if you continue not to pay, the credit card company can file a law suit against you. If you don't settle at that point, the courts will definitely let your creditors garnishee your wages. You do not want that to happen. There is a mountain of paperwork that your employer has to fill out when your wages are being garnisheed. Most employers will give you a set amount of time to settle with your creditors, at which point they will let you go; ie; you're fired.

Credit card companies can, but they generally don't. What they will do is sell your account at a discount to a company that does nothing but collect delinquent accounts. That company will garnish your wages and put liens on any property you own by going to court if you don't pay off the account.

Yes if they get court approval but that may take a few months. Instead of waiting for the drama - and possibly jeopardize your job - try negotiating directly with the card company. Perhaps you can pay the payment in 2 installments monthly or if you are in dire straits go to a Credit Counselor (Consumer Credit Counseling-www.cccsstl.org) and have them negotiate a payment that covers all your debts and they take care of all the calls. You are paid off in about 2years and they have you take classes to prevent getting in over your head again. If you are being threatened by a credit collector go to a counseling service ASAP. If you prefer to find one on your own verify they are legitimate at the Better Business Bureau (BBB.org). Good Luck!

State specific as to if an unsecured debit is subject to garnishment; it can be in most states. Check with the clerk of court.

i think it all depends on state law. i don,t know if they
can garnish your wages, but they can file a collection
lawsuit or hire a collection agency and turn in your
debt to the credit bureau and that will hurt your credit.
try and work out a payment schedule with them. good luck.

no positive about the garnish of wages but call them they will work with you. i had one where they stoped all finance charges and took a small payment directly from my account each month. another only lowered the interest and again took small payments from my account. also have had one settle on a smaller amount payoff

I have never heard that happening but your credit will be bad for years to come and they usually slap a judgment on you so if you ever want to make a large purchase, you need to pay off your judgment first.

If you can't pay off the card you should at least pay the minimum payment each month.
