this is not to all of you but the amount of dojos that do judo are the biggest mcdojos ive seen, i mean the british judo asociation is so screwed up, they said i had to pay £30 on the spot for a gi and the when they punched they steped forwad with thier other fist on the waist like u see all these karate kids doing.
judo has just become a sport, they shouldnt even call it a martial art. i know some judokas who are excellent but it is rare to find these days, they normaly just do point sparring.

i mean the sport is exellent real fun to watch but what it has become now is a watered down version of shuai jiao and karate

Seriously, Ash...I'm really sick of your constant b**tching and arrogance. It's getting pretty old. If I were your instructor I would kindly ask you to leave my dojo for showing so much disrespect to other martial arts/artists. You're completely missing the point, here. I think I probably speak for others, too...

Man you mean in 14 years of training in Judo they have been hiding the punching from me.
Dude 30 for a Gi that's cheap. I paid $75 CA for my crappy work out gi that is about 30 quid. My fighting Gi cost me $250 CA. And that is still cheap by competition standards. Most fighters at an above club level need 2 gis one white one blue and often they're brands like Mizuno or Adidas and they cost up to $400. Come to Canada and you'd have a real hard time finding a Judo dojo that did'n't have at least one Judoka on provintial or national team.
Sounds to me like you were looking at your feet when you walked in the to the club and missed the sign tha said Judo on Mondays- Wednesdays and you were there on Thursday...

Oh and if you can show me any Judo competition where it is point sparing I eat my words... Judo is and always has been full contact for al ages and ranks.

However it is all together posible the owner of that particular club clambed to be teaching Judo but wa realy teaching Karate but wanted to try and incorperate some basic take downs. Either way I beleive the term you would use in the UK is "sod off"...

It sounds like you were in the dojo for about five minutes. You have put together a serious rant without any research into what you're so opinionated about.
Judo is absolutely one of the most effective martial arts and was born on the battlefield. Yes, now there is a sport version of it that is made safer for the competitors by instituting rules and such but that doesn't diminish the fact that judo is a devestating combat system.
It has made me a much better fighter and martial artist. So before you begin talking like a pouty child about something, try putting at least a few months of training into the martial arts. I don't think you have the dedication or discipline to do so, but please feel free to prove me wrong.
Good luck and let me know how much progress you make.

Judo and MMA are two different sports. It's the same reason why some elite BJJ grapplers suck in the UFC (Travis Lutter, Andy Wang, Rolles Gracie) Also, Karo Parisyan and Yoshihiro Akiyama are Judo fighters who are doing well in MMA.

Actually, Judo was created as a sport by Kano.

It is an abbreviated form of Jujutsu.

There is no punching in Judo.

Judo also has nothing to do with Karate.

You don't have enough of a background to be making any sense on this issue.

my sister is 9 and my brother is 6. They both train in Judo under the a former Scottish champion of judo in the olmpics. my sister learns everything, has been picked for the squad and already at 9, no one would want to mess with her. I really think you're generalisation is awful.

You're generalizing Judo, an entire fighting system, on a few crappy schools? Judo doesn't suck, but your ignorant generalization sure does.

I agree, hell Mr.Gene LeBell himself was lucky to make Steven Segal and so many others sleep at his will. You need to do some study work, as your reply here is of limited insight and resource. Judo has been a dominat fighting art and sport many years, BJJ comes from a Judo player named Count of Combat, and never forget My.Mike Swain American Gold Medal Champ and awesome person.

the problem isn't judo, its your area. you cant judge the all the world's judo dojos by your area. You say it looks really fun to watch thats because they are more advanced and have been through all the little boring stuff. what would yuo rather watch, a little league game or MLB game? like front row seats as if you were at a little league you just have to commit to it
