There is a very simple answer to this is no. Hinduism will survive for ages to come. You're quite right about the missionaries and the Muslim population explosion, but have you checked the facts on Hinduism itself?

If you have, you will notice that they have their own population explosion and second only to the Buddhists. fascinating isn't it? One of the world's oldest religion, Hinduism traces its roots back to the days of Greeks and the Egyptians, mayhap even further, but i haven't head of any findings as proof of older than 6000 BC.

So, will a religion, that has survived, not in its entirety, but a modified version, not losing any of its basics and traditions but at the time, moving with the span of time, really die off? Maybe, might be, I give it a 12% chance of complete obliteration. This percentage is without taking in the strict and orthodox upbringing in a pious Hindu house hold. Hinduism is one of few religions where you cannot convert but must be born into it. They take this real seriously. Outside India, Hindus are a bit more lenient. However, for those in India, hey take their religion like its their birthmarks.

I hope I have answered your question in the best way possible. ciao.

ps: Take a look at India's political situation, might give you some insight into how deep Hinduism runs in India.

I dont know why people believe converting poor people will make them better people, as long as they believe in being honest and good is what counts. But Hinduism has a possibility of becoming extincet, but then again- it is the largest religion is India and India is the country with the second largest population in the world plus all the Hindus in the Indian Diaspora- I don't think so. But population needs to dramatically go down in India then we can talk.

For the Hinduism to survive, the Hindus need to do a lot of soul searching. They need do away with the muck that has accumulated on it in the name of the religion. The society has to shed the social inequalities and iniquities sought to be perpetuated in the name of religion and God. Ethics rather than rituals have to be guiding principles to condition the conduct the people. Besides deep rooted faith in God, there has to be a realisation that they owe a duty to the fellow human beings. Service should be cornerstone of ones public conduct.

I am convinced that even in India, Hinduism is thrown out, it might survive in Europe, where more and more people are fascinated by Hinduism, not as a religion but as a dharma.

Today although there is a lot of confusion among many foreign scholars as to what constitutes Hinduism and what does not, there is no confusion among the native Indians as to who a Hindu is. A Hindu may not be able to define correctly who a Hindu is, but in his heart he knows clearly whom he is talking about. Without recourse to any religious texts or scholarly analysis, he can instantly recognize and accept a fellow Hindu.
The Hindus may come from different regions, speak different languages, belong to different economic and social strata, may oppose each other politically, may not even like each other personally due to ideological or ethical or ethnic reasons, but they do not fail to experience the bond of a religious tradition that is common to them. They know clearly that the tradition that binds them together was before them and would remain forever after them.
This in essence what Hinduism is. It is a living tradition which communicates through the hearts, minds and spirits of its millions of adherents. The word "Hindu" is very much secular in its origin and a typical Hindu is very much secular in his out look and attitude towards all religious faiths and living traditions.
Today if some Hindus are becoming increasingly defensive towards their religion, which is an unfortunate development, as it is against the principles of their religious tradition, it is to be acknowledged more as a reaction against perceived threats and external influences. Let us hope that it would be a temporary phenomenon.

Even much before the arrival of Britishers, the conversion by Violence has stopped by the counter measures by Hindus and Sikhs jointly.Due to the medieval age's Religiouly permitted Polygamy each person having 4 legal wives and 15 to 16 children through each wife, is also coming to an end by the increase in Muslim women literacy(first started in Kerala) ignoring the fundamentalist's hue and cry.The "Child-Booming" also had its Negative effect.-In the middle fiftees and Sixtees,a very large number of Muslims were going through abject poverty and illiteracy due to resource crunch. They also started becoming "Streetsmart" like their Hindu brethern by having One wife and two children "Norm".This decline in Child-Booming is happening even in Pakistan(State Religion is Islam) and Secular Bangala Desh.People of all Religions started realising the "Economical advantages" of "Nucles Families" Due to the "Vigilance ' of Hindu organisations ,the large scale conversions using the Money- Power from Oil-rich Middleeast is also decreasing.Even their Propaganda to Middleeast not to employ Hindus in Oil Rich countries did not influence those countries, because, those countries (perhaps except Saudhi Arabia)Business people wanted "Smart Workers" irrespective of their Religion.Atleast 4 times more Hindus than Muslims went to those Muslim countries with very high remunerations. Vigorous Family Planning measures of Govenmnt of India has its own influence in restricting the Child-Boomers.So the possibility of "Explosion of Muslim popualtion in India is only a wishful thinking and out of question. They will maintain the same figure of 12 % for 22/23 centuries.

In 2000 yeras christians could convert only 2 % of the Indians to Christianity.

Now the All Hindu Temple administrations are in the hands of the bold Warrior(Kshatriya) and Business (Vaisya) Communities only all over India. Not in the hands of the Timid Brahmins who are being used only as "Employees" to perform rituals.95% of Brahmins have given up Priethood Profession and have gone to USA/ Europe/Australia/Japan as Information Technologists(I.T.Professionals) and in every major city of the Developed Countries, there are Innumerable Hindu temples..If more than 5 Hindus go to any City they will first start a Temple there.Hinduism will survive for the next 100 centuries to come. Don't worry.

Thousand yrs of Muslim rule and 200 yrs of British rule tried all kinds of methods to pour acid on this religion and destroy the morale of Hindus and they failed.
Sanathan , which is the real name of Hinduism itself means--without beginning and without end.
As promised in the Bhagvat Gita, by Shri Krishna---"When ever there is a decline in this Dharma, I embody myself for the protection of the virtuous and the destruction of the evil doers"
In the interval too many saints and enlightened being appear to revive this Dharma. There is no One founder of this Dharma as is the case with other religions and that in itself is a mystry.

Hinduism is undying .
I t had no beginning and so its end will be infinite. It is a Natural and Scientific religion. It will end when the planet earth falls into the sun as described by arjuna when he saw the viswaroopa of Krishna. He saw the atars and planets falling into the fiery flaming mouth of krishna in his viswaroopa in the process of annihilation.this corresponds to the deathof the Sun when it would grow much beigger on the exhaustion of its hydrogen fuel and suck into itself the planets lyiing wihtin the distance of the orbit of Jupiter .the planet earth woud also be one of those that would fall into the sun when it becomes a Red giant and gains infinite gravity due to the accretion of the mass of all the palents that fall into it . The plamets that fall into the stars turninmg into abalck hole or whit edwarf will undergo nuclear reaction in the black hole or the white dwarf for thousands of eon and turn out new universes as described in the eighth teaching of Bhagavad -Gita

certainly Hinduism will survive in India. Instead of increasing our population we should think about how to improve living status of poor peoples. when we will be strong in economy our Hinduism will also survive.
