The alternatives can be so expensive that it would be great to know if some of the substitutes taste better than others.

I forget the brand name, but if you look for turkey bacon that's in a red package, that's the best! I used to love to eat that instead of the fatty, greasy "real" stuff.
As far as hamburger is concerned, you can make a vegetarian burger out of ground up black beans, an egg and bread crumbs. There are tons of recipes online. Another good burger alternative is buying the frozen meatless type. I'm partial to Bocca - their burgers are really good and have a fraction of the fat, cholesterol and calories of a regular burger.
Good luck!

Actually I have found Turkey burger (ground burger)cheaper than ground beef. I like the taste a lot better too. You can also sub with Ground Chicken.

The only problem I have found with turkey bacon is it doesn't fry up very well. They do make low sodium bacon. You can also use turkey sausage as well.

Using Ms.Dash as a salt sub work well and they now have several flavors to choose from.

Buy frozen veggies instead of canned sodium content is considerably lower.

When making soups they make sodium free stock so use that for your base and spice up with Ms. Dash

I hope these suggestions are helpful too you!

Ahh , forget about it - you only live once ! Eat up whatever you want ...So you might live on social security a few extra years in some nursing home by dieting ... Or you could end up on the diet yo-yo getting bigger each time ...Eat what you want just eat less of it - control your portions , fill your belly half way with water before you eat .You can't over stuff yourself so easy that way .
