In the summer, I'd seriously consider not driving my car to work and taking the bus or just biking the 7 miles it takes to get there. I imagine if gas was around $6 that's what I'd do. And it's heading there, it's just a matter of when.

However I, like most middle class people in this country, can't just go out and buy a new car right now. I'll have to make the most out of my car getting around 25mpg for the next few years. I'm hoping then that those plugin hybrids will be available where you don't use any gas unless you go more than 40 miles between charges!!

The thing people forget when saying what price to make people stop driving is, everything you buy comes to the store by some form of delivery. So if the price of fuel goes up, the price of the things you buy also need to go up. Would you be willing to pay 50 percent more for things that are not made or grown locally. I do deliveries. When the price of fuel goes up to where I can no longer afford to drive I will have to quit. That means people will need to find another way to get the things I deliver.

The price of gas already has us thinking......& thinking hard about driving less. We have a large vehicle because we have a large family plus an older Volvo sedan.

Since last spring, we have been planning trips out. We can't just "go out for a ride" anymore.

If the cost of gas gets any higher than $3.50 a gallon we are so screwed. Our life would get very hard indeed!

If America spent half a Trillion on plug-in hybrids for all the households in America. Oil would drop to near nothing. Forcing Iran to abandon its weapon program, forcing Chavez to admit he can't afford socialism and returning us to our own independance. Butt noooooo. That would be another entitlement. Never mind we will spend twice that on a war plan that does nothing for any one. We can't be giving away freebies for our people. Unless they are rich and don't really need them like the tax break for buying gas guzzling Co. cars.

I already do. I bike or ride an electric scooter to work, and bought a Prius for when I drive.

I would do this regardless of the price of gasoline for environmental reasons.

I don't know what you mean by serious -- I'm already thinking twice about going out and I combine errands. But if gas got to, say, $4 / gal, I would consider alternative transportation and getting a smaller vehicle.

I'd have to say $4... no its not being cheap its about supply and demand... if the price gets too high and people stop demanding... oil companies will have to drop the price down cuz they don't make money if they don't sell gas

I love driving! I love the sound of my big fat gas guzzline engine. Once all the poor people are off the roads, I'll be tearing up the wide open roads for $7 per gallon and loving every minute!!

Probably $4.00 per gallon. I'd have to break down and buy a motorized skateboard to get around.
