Playstation 3 question!!?

okay so i have a couple questions because i keep hearing diffrerent things about the ps3... okay soo i hear that they are region free is that true? if i have japanese games for ps3 will they play on an american PS3? and i heard that ps3 does not allow you to play PS2 games on it? is that true? and if i have a japanese PS2 game will it play on an american PS3?? okay thank you!!

PS3 games are region free. PS3 games from any region will play on your PS3 console.

20, 60, and 80gb consoles will play PS2 games. The 40gb cannot play any PS2 game.

PS2 games are region locked, so Japanese PS2 games (or games from any other region) will not play on a US PS3.

Yes, the PS3 is region free and you can play Japanese PS3 games on it if you have a U.S. PS3.

The only PS3 that does not play PS2 games is the 40GB PS3. All of the other PS3's can play PS2 games.

If you have a Japanese PS2 game, I not really sure if you could play it on a U.S. PS3 because in order to play Japanese PS2 games on a American PS2, you had to buy something special to allow it to do so, so I don't think that Japanese PS2 games will work with a American PS3.

1). PS3 games are region free. You'll be able to play japanese games.
2). You can play PS2 games only on 20GB, 60GB and 80GB models (20GB and 60GB are the best). 40GB can't play them at all.

I know here in the U.K (PAL) the more expensive version with larger hard drive plays ps 2 games however the cheaper version does not. I'd guess it will be the same for you. I'd wait for a better answer if I were you, I'm just counting the clock down at work!

Ps2 games DO play on the U.S. PS3 60gig version. Most ps2 games Do play on the PS3 80gig version. 40gig doesnot support ps2 games.
