After coming out of caves, the early human was convinced that there is a superpower in everything he observed and experienced. This is how the concept of God came to his mind. He thought that all these powerful phenomena are happening according to the wishes of somebody...The Creator, The Almighty. Then man’s imagination really took off and holy stories and characters of mythologies materialized. This happened in all civilizations all over the world.
He assumed the God is Omnipresent, Omnipotent and Omniscient. One cannot compare his understanding with the modern scientific discoveries.

Maybe its the other way round...the Universe is expanding because God is getting fatter.

You have it wrong, God already is at where the universe is expanding.

The physical universe expanding has no effect.

since the Universe is infinitely large, God is infinitely fat. This means that he cannot get fatter.

If that is true, then it completely supports the theory that God is a woman!!! She is just going through menopause: weight gain, mood swings.... give her a break!

haha. you should read God's Debris. Adams supposed God IS the universe...and he wants to do the only thing he cannot do....die. so he explodes himself (big bang) and eventually, it will all contract back into.....God.
