I think - according to the Christian religion - that your plan will work - as long as you are truly sorry.

Namaste!

May I tell you a story of someone trying something like that?

There's a village close to where I live. People there work at the golden mine and one day a worker said:" a couple of years ago I made a deal with God, that He will announce me the day before I die so I can repent. I don't believe in God or that he spoke to me last night but I had a dream in witch I was told to repent because I will die. So just as a precaution, today I will not go into the mine." He's fellow joked and told him how he is about to outsmart God himself. But as he walked along with he's friends, an accident occurred and a nearby sower flipped and stuck in he's head killing him in an instant. The inhabitants of that village were terrified and they started to hate Christians.
Details may be different from the real story... anyways, the idea is love your life but don't waste it.

Rock,

Could it happen?

Yes.

WILL it happen?

Probably not.

As many have pointed out, you dont know if you WILL have a deathbed. You could die unexpectedly, or get dementia, alzheimers....etc.

Plus, the bible teaches it is a dangerous thing to PRESUME upon the Lord.

For an example just look at Pharoah. People always think it was unfair of God to "harden" his heart. But if you actually go back and re-look at the story, you will see that Pharoah, in the beginning hardened his own heart.

So if you think that you can harden your heart and then make a "deathbed" confession....beware.

God could do to you what He did to Pharoah.

In effect He could say to you:

"You think its trivial to harden your heart? I will show you what a REAL hard heart is!"

"It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God".

Rock, you are playing with dynamite. You are going to end up blowing yourself right into hell.

And the sad thing is;

God DOESNT WANT you to go.

But He doesnt play games.

The price it cost to get you into heaven was the death of His Son. I wouldnt mess around with Him if I were you.

There are death bed conversions- look at the thief on the cross- however what if, you died instantly in a car accident or some other way- and you had no time to make that choice- TODAY IS THE DAY OF SALVATION. You may think a life of sin is fun, but believe me, when I say, when I turned to Jesus, my life is such much more abundant then it was , and I am not going to hell, I am free to live my life the way God intended- free from sin's bondage. Think about it- why wait, because if you do, it could be too late.

No. I don't believe that works. Here is my reasoning. You can take it or leave it, since it is just what I think.

I think that death bed repentance isn't true repentance. You know you are going to die, so it isn't because you actually accept Christ, it's because you are going to die. It's for selfish reasons.

People will use the thief on the cross as an example of deathbed repentance, but Christ never tells the thief he is saved. He tells him that TODAY he will be in paradise with Christ. Remember that Christ was in the spirit world for three days before ascending to heaven. That means, that for those three days, the thief was with Christ. Also, he was being crucified as a thief, but do we really know if he was a thief? We don't know what was really in his heart, whether he was really sorry for what he did, or really didn't do what they accused him of. So to me, this story doesn't prove anything.

You can sin all your life and as much as you like and are allowed to, and if you turn to JC on your deathbed

it will be OK.

You may sin in this world as much are you like and as much as you will be allowed to, and if you are condemned to death by some court of law and as a christian you are given the extreme unction, where you also will be allowed to humbly repentingly kiss the Holy Crucifix,

IT WILL BE OK.

Think, you live in such a wonderful wonderful redemptious world where even after an extremely sinful life, upon your imminent death a little and visible repentance at the presence of an absolving priest

will allow your soul's glorious access to yonder Paradise where you will be able to ever and utmost blissfully enjoy God's ever glowing perennial nearness.

Please allow me to tell you that you should wake up! It's time for you to wake up! Many sinners of this world are still being delivered into the nasty grabs of ferocious ever grinning Satan so he can hurl them down into the scorching flames of ever burning Hell for their perennial damnation.

Technically yes but why would you want to do that? Its a much better life NOT sinning.

Also you dont know when your deathbed is. What if coming home from work today you get hit by a car and die? You never know when you are going to die.

...While there is life, there is hope that people will turn to Christ and be saved, however:
...Sounds like you are counting on having a clear enough mind to turn to Christ at the end.
...I suppose you can try this, but what if the mentality is not there?
...You will miss out on life's greatest blessings if you wait to trust in Christ,
and will be almost empty-handed at the Judgment Seat of Christ, and quite embarrassed when the Lord asks you why you wasted your life.
...Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and be saved. Acts 16:31
...Whosoever will, may come.
...2 Corinthians 6:2 says this: For He says:“ In an acceptable time I have heard you,and in the day of salvation I have helped you.” Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.

Hi,

Yes you can so long as you are sincere. The problem is that many do not get that chance when their deathbed turns out to be a fatal car crash, heart attack or gunshot.

Mike

Sorry CVO; isaid what you did but we were writing concurrently.

No I don't think you could because if you know now that JC is the right way then you'd be denying him by not accepting him now. The thief was forgiven because he didn't know about Jesus his whole life he was ignorant of the truth. You can't expect to be forgiven if you purposely wait till the end.

And also I wouldn't suggest waiting because you never when your going to die. What happens if you decide to wait then die in a car accident?

Sorry, dear one, it doesn't work that way. If your intent is to make a deathbed confession to Christ, what happens if you're hit by a bus tomorrow?

Good luck with that!
