Do you know how many? What country do they work in? Do you know any of their names? From a Biblical standpoint, do you know their back ground? Has any of them ever given a testimony before your church or preached at your church? Have you ever met any of the missionaries that your church supports before? Do they inform your church what they are doing in the field? If so, how often? Or, does someone out of your church tell you who you are going to support?

Yes. Yes. Yes. and Yes. And I personally support missionaries and also have a record of their activities. I can not afford to fly them to the USA to report in person. That would be a sad state of my stewardship.

Hope that helps.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has about 47,000 missionaries throughout the whole world. The young men and young women as well as senior couples serve from 18 to 24 months in cities in nearly every country. I served in Brazil for two years about 35 years ago. We have full time missonaries in our ward in California and throughout the U.Sl and Canada. We have missionaries in Mongolia, Africa, India, Europe, South America, Australia, the Islands of the Seas, etc. They generally support themselves. However, tithing funds assist them as needed. Members can also donate to the missionary fund separately. The missionaries report to the local authorities every week on their activities.
