i just asked the question "Christians and Tattoos"...one of the biggest answers was "your body is a temple, why change it." To all the women out there...if your body is a temple, why do you pierce your ears? Isn't that the same as getting a tattoo?
(I'm a tattooed Christian)

I think tattoos are stupid. I think that Jesus tattoos are really stupid. When I see a young woman with a tattoo, I have two questions. Is it true that people who have tattoos are more likely to be risk takers? {Yes, it is true.] What plans do you have about how you will explain that to your granddaughter? Tattoos may be permanent, but the flesh that they are on is not, so they fade and stretch, etc. But I reject the "Your body is a temple" argument because I can't find anything that refers to it in the Bible. I believe that they are doing it because they believe that they will get laid more often with Christian girls. I mean, women either need to be relaxed or excited to get to the next level. That choice is genetically determined, I believe. So what could be more exciting to a Christian girl than a Jesus tattoo?

good question... im a christian and the body is a temple and "biblically" it isnt wise to get tattoos or peircings i have had my ears pierced since before i became a christian and from my understanding if you've given your heart to the lord and if you ask for forgiveness your usually forgiven. besides we dont take our flesh into heaven only our souls. theres no way to "physically" pierce or tattoo your soul and if your right by the lord and you live your life correctly im sure its makes it ok

I love how people are answering what they think should be acceptable to God. Earrings are okay because they are prettier? In who's opinion? If people are going to get that technical about not changing the temple, which I thought it was don't harm it, then I guess we can't bathe. Body odor is something that comes from nature. Washing our bodies is changing what nature produces. As far as not harming it, then I guess we can't really do anything because there is risk involved with everything we do. There is even risk in doing nothing.

I think it is an independent belief, yes there are scripture that say not to do it but it is lumped in with the same scripture that says to stone you child when the misbehave. I have ink I am a Christian, I think we get too caught up on the details and do not focus enough on what our true tenants of faith are.

Tattooing is somewhat different from ear piercing in order to wear earrings. Tattoos are there forever unless you pay to have them removed. The holes in your ears will close eventually, and even when they do not close, you can go without the earrings. You cannot go without your tattoo for a day or two. I do not mind discreet tattoos, but I really cannot understand the need to have the whole body tattooed so that you cannot see where one begins and another ends. That's my thought, but I am sure you have others which is fine.

WHen was the last time you were at Temple ? Don't they have chandeliers and other adornments in and on them ? How many people would go to a bare temple....unless of course it WAS a body ??

Well the way that i see it Your body is your temple as some people Fraze it, i like to refer to it as your can vice it is the only thing you have besides your voice and mind that is originally unique and you can't always voice what your mind wants to.
express your self and be proud to be you..

In bible it says your body is a temple and not to harm or mar it. That includes tattoos and piercings. Basically what it means is you are gods property and he doesn't want you vandalizing it.
