I am a Lupus patient. Every now & then I get a sharp burning pain in one of my toes. This is usually something I can tolerate, & then it disappears within a week or two. For the past couple weeks I have had intense excrutiating pain on the ball of my right foot, & in my right toes as well as the left ones. It's a burning pain coming from within. The areas are red, appear swollen, & the discomfort I feel is relieved by squeezing my foot. if I stay off my feet for about 30 minutes, the pain goes away but as soon as I move around again I'm in tears because it hurts so much. What is this? This has been going on too long & I am irritated that I am suddenly so immobile.

You could be having issues with nerve damage but I would recommend getting in touch with both your rheumatologist (if you have one) and your primary care physician to let them know what's going on so that they can evaluate the situation further to see what they think could be going on.
