Can there be a third path to the Truth ?

Hi Buff & little hanumanji: I wish to ask there are people who believe and have faith...and there are people who put logics before faith...so both ways are contradicting each other.

Is there a path where both Faith and logics play equal role.

2007-12-04 04:39:11 · update #1

Or a path where faith and logics are not required ??

I have never found a religion that does not include both logic and belief in some form... For a logical argument to find truth, first there must be true evidence and accurate premises. Those are hard to find through logic alone... a little bit of inspiration is needed... even by scientists.

We have to ask the right questions to get the right answers, using logic. We don't ask questions when we have only belief.

Yes, I do see another way ... The mind and heart combine as one. It is called inspiration. Inspiration is proof to the soul... more convincing than logic, and more confident than belief... but containing aspects of both.

We remain uncertain (or we allow *silence* within) and in that uncertainty we receive directly truths that we can no longer have any uncertainty about.

It's sometimes called "meditation," "prayer" ... it's all communion with the Divine. Our hearts Know God. We listen....

That is the third path.

Third path is "neither logic nor illogic" i.e. substratum, on which duality and non-duality exist. In other words don't identify with either and go beyond Atheistic and Theistic.

Mirror of consciousness will not reveal anything if it is covered with dust of pseudo religion and material logic, which is based upon five imperfect senses (hear, touch, see, taste and smell) and relativity.

For example objects at a distance look smaller than it’s original size, which is not correct. Our knowledge is based upon what we perceive through our five senses, which are limited. Therefore the material knowledge, which we have, is also imperfect and incomplete.

With the help of science we only try to extend our limited capabilities, but the scientific solutions are also finite and limited.

In spiritualism, logic is good to some extent, but after that it becomes a barrier. Go beyond contradictions by accepting them, as they are different perspectives of the same Truth.

Illogic and logic are two complimentary extremes and both should be acceptable. When logic defies another logic, the later becomes illogic. Illogic is based upon logic, and logic is based upon illogic. Existence of word “logic” is because of word “illogic” exists and vise verse. It’s the way we have North and South poles in a magnet, which are complimentary and relative to each other. Also we know that illogical-logic becomes intuitive knowledge. Even in our day-to-day life we act illogically, which is considered as positive aspect of our lives.

What is truth? The age old question that has plaqued mankind from the beginning. Truth is that piece of knowledge that endures without change. If it is not true for all, then it is not true at all. Truth here being defined as eternal, life forming and defining. It is an eternal truth that we should all help each other and not go about trying to destroy each other. It is an eternal truth that we should use our resources wisely and prudently, not with wastefulness.
So what is the source of these and other eternal truths? Is it all a figment of human imagination? Is there a force above us that organized all of this for us? Therein lies the beginning of the debate between humanistic science and spirituality.
For myself, I am convinced within myself by the peace that I feel in my soul that God does live and that He organized all of this for our use, so that we can learn by the exercise of our agency the difference between good and evil. Jesus is the representative of good and Satan is the representative of all evil. Truth can only be felt in our hearts and mind by the peace and comfort that comes from the spirit. Our minds can conceive only so much. God's creations exceed our abilities to comprehend them. Thus, science will always be incapable of describing and defining God's universe, His power and influence.
I study science to learn as much as possible but I recognize that science can only go so far. Infinity is eternal.

Only logical path is the Path of science and Math. In many respects these appear to be far superior to the old religions.

2+2 = 4, for Christians, Buddhists, Muslims, Atheists etc.
Water consist of Hydrogen and Oxygen for all too.
And these have been proven without doubts as TRUTH.

Hi, Yes I too agree that there are many paths leading to the same destination. That's what makes life so exciting as we each journey along the map of Truth, sometimes veering away from others, sometimes walking alongside them on the same path and all of us striving towards the light. Pollyanna

Atheists are not skeptics, because skeptics do not adopt dogmas, even negative dogmas. To say "it is false" is as much a dogmatic statement as to say "it is true". Both are the opposite of skepticism, which is about pure inquiry, not establishing that something is false. Once one comes to a determination of truth or falsity, one has abandoned skepticism. That being said, one can be religious and still not pretend to certainty. Fideism, for example, is a philosophical stance that permits both religious belief and atheism without making claims of being absolutely and "objectively" certain. Epistemological Anarchism is another path.

Even proper skepticism, in and of itself, would be a "third" path from the two extremes you cite.

Check out this article. It lays out skepticism quite nicely.

i would disagree with you on the first point. many scholars are atheist in their belief yet they need a religion to study and publish for additional book sales.

religion has proof of the supernatural whether it is accepted or not does not change the immutable nature of reality

i think science is also a path to immutable truth though the interpretation of the datum is subjective no matter what scholar produces the product

i look at the cell and see the work of god others look and see random chance yet it is a thing of beauty. our own prejudice determines what we see, creation or accident? random chance?????

edit: i honestly can see logic working without faith and faith without logic is the recipe for disaster

There are an infinite number of paths to the truth. However, as was said in one of my favorite movies, "the truth does not have versions," so those paths all lead to the same place.

what do you think, what makes you tick and go on in life? we all believe in some thing one or the other. we are a universe within our selves that adapts to changes. there are two roads in this and the next live of ours, one that leads into bliss and the other into perdition. there is such thing as truth and consequences which follow you into a after life. there is no third part which would be easy and more convenient to choose. love and faith would be the only path.
