If the people that sinned were sent to Hell immediately, instead of waiting until dealth... OR ... if committing a sin were punishable by death or a long prison sentence, would it be a greater deterrent than it is now? And if the rules regarding sin were changed, how willing would you be to state "Everyone has sinned.", like you do now?

gorgeous: I wasn't dressed when you answered the question! How'd you know?
... besides, most sins are no longer sins when done with a consenting adult.

Sin by who's standards and interpretation?
That's my big argument for keeping Religion out of Government. Setting the precedent of allowing the Religious to make their beliefs law will eventually even punish *them* when the "wrong" people get elected.
Read "A Handmaid's Tale". Interesting take on the subject.

Has prison helped the crime level ,has the death penalty been a big deterrence ,Crime is sin,man thinks one way and God another so He gives us a chance to repent even well in prison awaiting death .

The only things that have any effect on people's behavior are fear of retribution (in THIS life), biological inclination, e.g., herd instinct, and willful compliance with society's laws - in that order. The fear of retribution after death influences nobody but the insane.

There wouldn't be anyone on earth if people who sinned went immediately to hell, because no one would live long enough to breed.

I think we would find that most "sins" are not even a little wrong at all.
Endora, I wonder if he is wearing any clothing at all!! Oops, I just "sinned".
I am certainly a consenting adult too. *Oh my*

Well, the penalty for breaking most of the Ten commandments is death...so....should we bring back Mosaic Law, anyone?

Changing the penalty would not change the fact that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.

Lots of lives are filled with confusion and regrets because of "what ifs" rather than living the truth and the reality of here and now
