Well i bought it from a renault dealship (second Hand), and it had a full service 3 months ago.
the avg MPG has always been the same from day 1. its done 29,000 miles.
I did have 3 coils replaced yesterday on warranty as it wasnt running well at all. now there is a definate change in driving, but still rubish MPG.

I have the same car except it's the 03 Dymanique, the Renault handbook states you should get 34mpg combined and 40.4mpg motorway. The Meganes are renowned gas guzzlers because they carry a lot of "spec" i.e air con etc.

Are you calculating the fuel consumption yourself, or trusting the trip computer?
My 2003 Mégane 1.9dCi gets around 50 to 58mpg averaged over a tank of fuel, calculated by dividing the distance travelled between refuelling by the amount of fuel needed to fill the tank. Its computer usually shows less (around 45 to 48mpg).

Check your tyre pressures - low pressures will cause increased fuel consumption.

If your "every day" driving is mostly stop-start town driving, short trips and cold starts, then 27mpg is not ridiculous for a petrol car.

it seems low and you can do three things:-
see what your running Air-con, electricals and an open window or sunrrof can lower your mpg.
Go see your local garage man and see if they can tweak your engine and lower the rpm so that you run lean and mean.
Try an a fuel additive from Halfords which claims to increase mpg by 10%

There should be a sticker on the back end of the front left-hand door with the recommended tyre pressures. It is only visible with the door open. There is on my Mégane.
