Yikes... I know I am going to receive a LOT of flak for this answer... but oh well...
I truly believe heaven and hell are as real as Santa and the Tooth Fairy...nothing more than fairy-tales (made during biblical times to teach children the morals and customs of their culture).
The closest to an answer I can give you, is that while you are alive and on this Earth, you can create your own 'heaven' or 'hell'... in which case, you would be the one to see to it that your soul is successfully transferred to hell. :P

There is nobody, divine or satanic, to watch or keep a record of your good or bad deeds.
There is nothing like a soul that escapes from your physical body.
There is nothing like heaven or hell outside this planet Earth.
There is nothing like reward or punishment according to which the soul is sent to heaven or hell.
When any life form on this planet Earth is dead, that is the end of that life form.
There is nothing like a ghost, spirit or reincarnation.

The book of life.
Rev 20:15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
The second death is non-existence, perish.
2Pe 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
It is your choice.
Cast by;
Rev 14:17 And another angel came out of the temple which is in heaven, he also having a sharp sickle.
Rev 14:18 And another angel came out from the altar, which had power over fire; and cried with a loud cry to him that had the sharp sickle, saying, Thrust in thy sharp sickle, and gather the clusters of the vine of the earth; for her grapes are fully ripe.
Rev 14:19 And the angel thrust in his sickle into the earth, and gathered the vine of the earth, and cast it into the great winepress of the wrath of God.
Rev 14:20 And the winepress was trodden without the city, and blood came out of the winepress, even unto the horse bridles, by the space of a thousand and six hundred furlongs.
You do not gather grapes with a sickle. The final harvest, the one you do not want to be harvested in.

The Holy angels. You will be judged by a Holy and Righteous God on two things:
1. Did you accept His sacrifice for your sins?
2. The things you did while you were on this earth. (Your works).
...and then the Holy angels will drag you kicking and screaming to spend an eternity seperated from God, an eternal death (This is called the second death) and there is no returning.

oh, Meat, i wish you wouldn't say things like this...but, i believe the correct answer is yourself, because you make the choice not to believe---thereby sparking your usual argument that we are nothing but a bunch of electrical transfers and neurons and that we have no control over our thought processes...YOU'RE a vicious cycle LOL! :o)

There is no place of hellfire and brimstone. The true hell is a place of personality extinction, totally devoid of Deity and divinity. Current ideals of hell stem from Gehenna(sp), the ancient trash site (and corpse burning area) and Dante's Divine Comedy.
