My dear dear Friend, I would love for the World to agree to disagree, especially in the areas of Faith and Personal Beliefs. In fact, that's all I've ever asked of those supposedly wise creatures that call themselves Humankind but the ones in power -- mostly rich old men I'm afraid -- just keep ignoring me.
So instead, and as per usual, I'm going to go out today and make my private bid for Peace and be kind to those around me. I'm going to open doors for people and smile at total strangers. I'm going to use "please" , "thank you", "Hello", and "how are you". I'm going to wave at people and remind them that they're a part of this world. How glad I am that we all are in it.
Let's just be Kind to people one person at a time. I love you, Dear Friend. We're never doomed as long as long as there's still a candle in the Darkness,

I wonder if your a christian and if you really have taken into thought the whole picture. I agree we should agree to disagree even in a peacefull way. What I can not do is sit back with the knowledge of the truth being entrusted to me while others bring in wrong views of the teachings of Christ. If it means war it shouldn't be to blood pours out but it should be to against the powers of darkness. I never mean to personally address and issue like these but to discuss the whole view in light of scripture. This is what we need in amoung our churches to "prove what is that good and acceptable perfect will of God" as Paul told Timothy. The whole picture is that Jesus forwarned the church of this last time and age in his epistle(Rev.3;14-22) to make changes. If those that are his wittnesses do not stand up for Jesus, I am afraid the blood will be on our hands. So with respect to what your saying just know people will always debate and say offensive things but among others like minded we must speak the truth in love. I will tell everyone even though I noticed some seem to hate to respond to me, if we do not make are calling and election sure in Christ then we remain indecisive. We may find ourselves on the wrong side of the gates of heaven instead of the side we intended to be on.

That's very idealistic thinking, but there's nothing wrong with that. The way people insult one another really is ridiculous, but it seems to be human nature. Obviously, there are some people in the world who don't insult those who disagree with them, but sadly they are in the minority.
Will a time EVER come that we stop? Ever is a long time. If you're a Christian, you know that the Bible says that the day WILL come when every knee shall bow and every tongue confess Christ as Lord of all. That is a very hopeful statement. Unfortunately, we're given no clue as to when that day will come (and no, Tim LaHaye doesn't have a clue, either).

There will always be those who feel the need to refute and instigate. Sometimes it is out of resentment, sometimes out of guilt, sometimes it stems for low self-esteem or rebilion, and sometimes people actually believe what they are saying (go figure, lol). Personally the way to respond as a Christian is not with hostile words or a demeaning tone, but with love, understanding and most of all, consistency. If you do that people will see you as an honest person with true convictions rather than a self righteous goat trying to impose "your" will on them. Unfortunately there are many believers who try and fight fire with fire when the truth is, if you let a fire burn long enough, it'll take care of itself in one way or another. ; )

The splitting of this country has been a major tactic of the Neo-Con administration. It will take Hilary or Obama two terms to deal with the fracturing of our culture and the rape of the American dollar.

I can and have constantly stood up and been the better person when my beliefs are attacked. I get told on a regular basis that I'm going to hell. I was recently told that I am gay LOL. 90% of the time I just laugh it off because you really can't talk sense to a delusional person anyways. But when you attack my family, and my son in particular, the gloves come off.

I never considered myself on a "totalitarian crusade", but nevertheless, you have a good idea there, Oberon, and I will try to incorporate it into the framework of my life.

that will never happen so long as christians keep trying to have thier views and christian outlook on the world legislated.
there are laws that are for the good of society in order to better ensure the more efficient running of it and protect the people, and there are laws which are solely "moral outrage" laws that push religion on others:
Ie: blue sky laws (closing liqor stores on sundays and restricting that liquor stores be near houses of worship- schools is a legit law).
stop trying to stifle art and entertainment because it is "not christian". if some kid wants to go online and kill imaginary people in grand theft auto- whats the harm IF IT IS OK WITH HIS PARENTS.
sex education needs to be taught in schools- this is for the prevention of disease, you want to teach your kids that abstinance is the only way according to your religion- fine, but at least there is something tangible done to prevent spreading stds among teens (teens shouldn't be having sex at such a young age- yes, but they are, people shouldn't smoke, or be fat either, but they are- so a solution to the greater problem of obesity, lungh cancer and std's needs to be addressed, not pushing the problem under the rug).
restrictions on abortion- you want one, get one you have the choice, christians may call you immoral or say that under the context of THIER beliefs they don't agree, but thats part of live and let live as you propose.
same thing with homos getting married. what the hell do they care if two guys want to have buttsex in thier house.
hot lesibans however should be required to have sex in public as that is for the benefit of all society....

If you are a good, decent person, I do not care what faith you have or what, if any, God you believe. I care about the impact you make on the world. I love everybody, until they do something I find to be horrific or unforgivable.
