You shouldn't ask your mom for money. With 2 adults working you should have enough money to pay for an apartment and feed the kids. Sounds like you have luxuries (i.e., cable television, internet connection, etc...) that you could do without.

You don't have to eat steak at all to survive - so cut back on UNNECESSARY expenses and reevaluate what expenses you feel are necessary (I bet most of them are not necessary).

The house temp doesn't need to be above 68 degrees - any higher is a luxury. Do you need a car? Do you live in the city?? Do you need a pet - get rid of all pets - they are a huge expense. Etc.....

You really need to take a real hart look at your finances and spending. You can't keep going to your mother for money. You problem will only temporarily go away. It is not fair to expect your mother to support your family.

Make a balance sheet of your income and spending. Then follow with a list of expenses such as mortgage, utilities, food etc. and another of all the extras such as memberships, eating out, school etc.
Doing this you should be able to track your money.

There are many ways you can save money. Exercises outside rather than keep a gym membership. Cook from scratch rather than packages pre made food. Down size your home. Re fiance your mortgage.

You need to get a 2nd job. I dont think you should depend on your mother to bail you out. Only do it as a last resort. I would never ask my mother for money even if I had to go to a food bank and get free groceries and apply for assistance.
My mother raised me and her job was done.
