The best way to fight the caffeine addiction is to slowly reduce how much you drink each day until you stop drinking it or cut back to a safer amount. You also need to look for causes of wanting caffeine outside the addiction. For example, are you eating or sleeping properly? Do you have too much sugar in your diet and use coffee when you sugar crash?

Well a paper was published this year in the New England Journal of Medicine that a cup of caffeinated coffee a day (an 8 ounce cup, not the super grande bucket most places serve) can actually help brain function in some people, including some with Alzheimers or a predisposition for it.
I seriously doubt it's the coffee since the sensations you describe are not usually associated with caffeine.

Not at all. It may be bad for you because it may cause some side-effects, nervousness, headaches and the likes, but I'm pretty positive it doesn't kill brain cells. I too took that habit while studying, and took up to 6-7 cups of coffee each study night. Didn't cause anything else than having to pee every 15 minutes ;-). I also took it to avoid falling asleep while driving home. I not only got my degree, but also proceeded to graduate studies. I know many other people who completed their studies that way (most of my friends). If it made them brain damaged, I sure wonder how they ended up with a PhD hanging on their wall. Maybe if we didn't drink coffee we could today levitate and teleport by the only strenght of our will ? ;-)

no, it doesn't kill brain cells. Even if it did, it's not something to worry about. You have billions and trillions of brain cells. You kill brain cells when you sneeze, (are you going to stop sneezing)? No, so calm down. What's important to recognize is if you don't feel great drinking coffee it might be that you put in roo much sugar. If you do, it would explain the crash effect you feel afterwards. Reduce your sugar intake in your coffee and see what happens.

Yes, part of what you describe is due to coffee.
But not all.
It's likely that your other things are making a bigger difference in how you feel..... are you getting enough sleep? Eating well? Getting some exercise? Are you generally taking care of yourself? These things have a BIG effect!
If you really are concerned, limit your coffee intake, and gradually lower it to no more than 1-2 cups/day.

I think that if that is the case it is something in your cup, not the coffee.
Research has proven just the opposite of what you are claiming. So I would guess that the cola's or other things are doing it to you.
Or, your a fraud... been seeing lots of those around here lately.
