SInce it snowed and I re-arranged my furniture (in the same day) my german shepherd 9 mo old female had been crying and carring around her favorite toy for days. How can I help her and has anyone had a similar experience? She is not going into heat she has already had her first heat and she did fine with that.

Someone mad the comment that she is going into heat, but that isn't true. She has already had her first heat and did just fine with that.

Never experienced it. My GSDs fit in with whatever I'm not doing, or complain because I'm ignoring them.

At 9 months she could well be having a flush of hormones ready for coming on-heat. Or, if she had a heat 7-to-10 weeks ago she could be feeling maternal, as a false pregnancy (something else none of my GSDs have had).

I am assuming that she has a special place-mat or crate or bed, and so won't be feeling lost - she knows where that is so can go there when needing a spot of feeling secure. I certainly can't see a re-arrangement of furniture upsetting her - especially as she probably "helped" with everything you did!

Only you can tell whether she is trying to find a place to nurse the toy, or wants you to play with it & her.
Could it be her way of trying to tempt you to open the door so she can go & bound through the snow and roll in it and toss mouthfuls of it into the air?

But depression it is NOT.
Depression is a medical term, and when a dog is depressed it doesn't want to do anything, not even eat.

Have you taken her to the vet to be definite there is not whatever medically unsuitable along with her? If so, then there might be a couple of matters occurring right here. It could also be that she is depressed over going via such a lot of houses and figures yours is handiest transitority anyhow. It could also be rough on puppies while their dogs go away them. They do not fully grasp why they're being taken away. So a mixture of loosing her final house and her dogs, yeah, that may confuse and dissatisfied her. Be very comforting along with her. Get excited approximately each little step she makes toward popping out of her shell. She gets there. Depending on how a lot she has been via in her existence, rather then what you do understand, it will take her a even as, however you probably have religion in her and supply her tons of completely happy affection, she'll come round.

If she was in season not too long ago (withing the last two months), she might be having a false pregnancy from the hormonal shifts that occur. Puppies and dogs do not get 'depressed' because people rearrange furniture or the weather changes... that is possibly something that humans may do but not dogs, ever. You can't 'help' her -- except maybe to spay her to prevent this occuring all the time or for real...

i have never had this experience but i would suggest trying to play with her get a her a few new toys and treats take her somewhere new on her walk to change things a bit. If it continues you should tell your vet he could give you some good advice :)

I would try to take her on regular walks. Exercise has been shown to help depression.
