It all spends the same.
Given the current deficit I find it ironic at most.

I think that even most athiests are not offended by this statement. It's pretty innocuous if you ask me. However, some people, both on the left and on the right, absolutely LIVE to be offended. So leave it on, take it off, turn it upside down, somebody will complain...

It doesn't offend me. It does make we wonder, though, why theists think it praises God to have his name printed on money.

Like, if a crack whore is selling herself to pay for her next fix, in a seedy back alley while a stray cat watches and a wino upchucks in a trash can, and when the deed is done, her customer pays with a twenty that says "In God We Trust" on it, how exactly does this make God look good?

Money is god to many.

Here's a little factoid, Theodore Roosevelt (a devout christian) tried to have it taken off the money while he was president for 2 reasons: First, the separation of church & state. Second, and more importantly, he thought it was blasfamous to put god on currency. He was over-ruled, not because others disagreed, but because it would have cost too much money to change it.

Money in general offends me, so putting the word 'God' on it isn't going to do anything about making it seem better.

I dislike the fact that you can put a price on something as priceless (for some) as food and water.

It's like saying to the thirsty but poor that "You are not worth enough to drink".

No, it doesn't bother me to have "In God We Trust" printed on our currency.

It didn't bother people like Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, and George Washington to speak of God in some of our founding documents, so I don't understand why it should bother us.

Jefferson et al understood better than anyone can today, what they intended the United States to be, so who are we to strip away something that they considered core to our country's moral philosophy?

It doesn't offend me...it's just that there is no justifiable reason for it to be there, and it is ridiculous that it was put there in the first place...and further ridiculous that people get so exasperated when you suggest that it probably shouldn't be there....

Luckily, it's not too big of a deal either way....

When people worry about such trivial things, they are not worrying of it as a seed to start a bigger church movement in the state but something they can use as power. These actions are a reflection on their self. Not their true self but current self. Let me be very clear on that. As a person of faith if the name was removed from everything it would not matter as the name is in me and that is all that matters. Plus is a faithful person shows anger by people fighting to remove the name of G-d or commandments from the courthouse remove who they are empowering and how they are getting that acsess granted.
