Dionysus turning water to wine at a wedding
Dionysus Virgin birth

It's wonderful how when I ask for counter claims I get a score of people launching one line generalizations against Christianity.

Dionysus is but one of many pre-Christian parallels to Christ. There was also Osiris, Orpheus, and several others.

Don't find that in any "mainstream" history

Dionysus' resurrection. Being an Agricultural God..he resurrected seasonally.

Dionysus turning water to wine at a wedding. When Hephaestus bound Hera to a magical chair, Dionysus got him drunk and brought him back to Olympus after he passed out. For this act, he was made one of the twelve Olympians.

Dionysus Virgin birth Dionysus is made to be a son of Zeus and Semele; other versions of the myth contend that he is a son of Zeus and Persephone. He is described as being womanly or "man-womanish".

Dionysus called "the fisher of men" ..He was also known as the Liberator (Eleutherios), freeing one from one's normal self, by madness, ecstasy, or wine.[

An argument would be:
Since Genesis chapter 3 we have had the promise of a savior, God told us over and over all about this savior.
Other people, heard our teachings about a savior, and, much like christmas was melded into christianity, they melded our savior into their religions.

Historicaly I haven't studied that enough to know for a fact, but it's a good argument.

Another argument would be, that, there are many flood accounts, showing (only one of the many reasons) that there was a flood, where one family was saved.
The thing changed, in the flood accounts is the NAMES of the family, this could be the same thing, Jesus was real, therefor people knew about him, they could have adapted him because they knew about him, and easily could have told the story and changed the name, different languages call people different things.

Good question, I applaud you.

There are also multiple other Gods with the same background, like that, that came before Jesus. I'm going to put a link to something in the sources section that should help open people's minds to that. You can watch it, too, if you want. It's pretty neat. =]

Also.."I am the true and living vine....."--Jesus Christ. That one speaks volumes in the Christ/Dionysus parallel.
