I don't eat chocolate (well, OK; I eat sugarless chocolate sometimes) because it is addicting and has too many calories if you need to lose weight. But banning foods that are bad for the obese is NOT the answer to obesity, anymore than banning laxatives is the answer to young girls who abuse them.

People need to be in control of their own lives. Should we ban meat because some people are vegetarians? Perhaps ban alcohol because some people are alcoholics?

They tried that, remember? The 18th Amendment banned it on January 16, 1919. The illegal trade turned this country into a blood bath until the 21st Amendment repealed the ban on December 5, 1933. Bans simply stimulate the black market, drive up prices and make it attractive for people who are willing to risk breaking the law.

If your school banned chocolate, it would be smuggled in. You know it would. In the meantime, the idea gets planted that anything which is legal is acceptable, and anything which is illegal (or against school rules) must be great, or the school would not find it necessary to ban it.

Chocolate is a delightful taste, and perfectly fine for those who do not have a weight problem or are allergic to it. It provides not only fast energy sugar, but a boost to the endorphins -- the pleasure chemicals in the brain. That's why it is considered mildly aphrodesiac, although your school would consider that an additional reason for the ban, no doubt!

I'm sorry, but I just have to say it, even if it means some will give me thumbs down. Is this how you write in school? I really hope not. You do realize, don't you, that we're not text-messaging here and there's no reason to shortcut, at a risk of not being understood at all?

Why don't you rewrite your question? You'll get more and better answers if you word and spell it correctly. People may be discouraged from even trying to interpret what you've written, and may not take you seriously even if they do manage to wade through it.

Translation (more or less):

Why should Hershey's chocolate be banned?
I am doing research for school and I REALLY need to know something! Why should Hershey's chocolate be banned? It makes people obese and heart problems can also come up along the way, but I need something more than just "it should be banned," "it rocks," or "because it's gross." I need a strong statement on why it should or should not be banned. Also, I need a "for" and "against". "For" = what you think; "against" = why other people may disagree.
-----------------------------
BTW, I don't think it should be banned. There are thousands of other products out there that would still exist, or which would take its place. People just have to stop relying on junk food. Chocolate in itself is not bad for you; at most, you might say that it's not being made the way it used to be made, and is no longer "real" chocolate. But that is also "thanks" to the lenient laws that permit certain "chocolatey" concoctions to pass for the real thing. Europeans (and their legislation) in general are finickier and more restrictive in their definition of "chocolate".

I have banned Hershey's chocolate, but not b/c of health affects, but b/c it is no longer made in the USA. It's made in Mexico now. "America's Favorite chocolate bar" is not made in America...
chocolate is actually good for you. It calms your nerves and makes you feel happy... too much can make you sick--constipated, shaky and jittery... It can dehydrate you also...
By the way, you really need to get a spell checker for your writing... school not skool. should, not shood. Obesity not obeese. Just, not juss. banned, not ban. what not wat. against not againts. I don't even know "ppl" is... please define.

in the usa, a chocolate can be anything but chocolate. in europe, a chocolate must contain an amount of cocoa butter to be called chocolate. the more cocoa butter a chocolate contain, the more easily it melts in your fingers/ mouth, the better quality the chocolate is, and the healthier it is.

recently, the manufacturers of chocolate in the usa wants this standard to be changed. so instead of having healthy cocoa butter in your chocolate, they will substitute it with homogenized vegetable oils, which is not healthy. aside from this, most american produced chocolate like hersheys has more sugar than is needed.

but i don't think that hershey's should be banned. hershey is not the only brand of chocolate in the market. thus, you got choices. i just don't think that changing the standard of making chocolate should be change, or it is not chocolate anymore.

chocolate doesn't make people obese, people make themselves obese. if you were going to use obese as a reason to ban chocolate then you'd have to apply the same rule to hamburgers, soda pop, ice cream, beer, pizza, mashed potatoes, sedentary livestyles, etc or else it's not logical.
if you're going to ban Hershey's chocolate and not other chocolate manufacturers the reason has to be specific to Hershey's, like they mistreat their employees worse than other chocolateers, or because they use crappy ingredients that other chocolate makers don't use.
use correct grammar and spelling, but if you're going to argue a certain point of view you've got to use logic and reason or there's no argument and you'll get a bad grade.

ban chocolate....how silly is that....it doesn't cause obesity or heart problems...what causes those types of things is the amount of foods that people eat...at not chocolate in particular....

also one word of advice, to get a decent grade on this paper, presentation, or whatever it is that you are doing this research for, for school.....Has better vocabulary and spelling then what you used to ask this question....

NOOO! don't ban chocolate, not even hersheys. people choose 2 buy the chocolate and eat it, so the rest of us shouldn't suffer b/c of something they did.

It's bad tasting chocolate and just needs to be improved. I would like to see the person who is obese from just eating chocolate.
