INRI stems from the Latin phrase 'Jesus Nazarenus Rex Iudaeorum' meaning 'Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews'. I hope this was helpful to you.

Can I ask you the interest? Are you a practicing catholic? I only ask because I have been questioning my faith as of late and maybe I'm not alone.....please don't be offended by my statement, I'm just looking for people whom I may be able to discuss certain things with...

Something Pontius Pilate ordered to be written and nailed above Lord Jesus. It was customary to put the Crime above the executee in Roman times. Since Jesus was executed for saying He was born to be a King and confessing Kingship was punishable by Death by the Roman Caesar, then its probably why it was done.

Also the word Jew means "Praises to God" so that title literally means King of Praises to God. That is why Jesus said His Kingdom was not of this World.

Well the logical choice would be the one with most information..... John 19:19.... because when writing the gospels the authors were intrested in highlighting different aspects about Jesus' life....

Matthew---his lineage,
Mark---God qualities,
Luke-Jesus being a man as well,
John--- Divinity and Light

Probably none of the above.

Note that Paul is not listed in your sources. He makes no mention of what, if anything, was written on the cross. Paul's writings were the earliest of the New Testament writings. Though, they were decades after Jesus died, if Jesus existed at all.

The Gospels were written decades after Paul's writings. The earliest of them was Mark. But like most myths and urban legends, they contain more and more detail as time goes on. The later Gospel writers based their writings on Mark and other authors of the time, adding their own spin to the stories.

So, this has to be treated, like all of the New Testament, as myth or legend which has little, if anything, to do with a real Jesus.

You have four quotes for them ALMIGHTY book, so, what do I do? Choose ONE? I believe (interpret) that the Romans and the Jewish hierarchy were MOCKING whoever was on that cross with this marking.

Well, it was 2000 years ago, so my memory is like, kind of fuzzy on it. Plus, dang it, no one thought to save the sign cause you would ask this in the future.

What is your point anyway?
