That lady is correct. White wasn't made to be an actual color or used in big amounts. More has a mixer to get customer colors or hue things out. On t.v. they use white has a highlight. People even use it to lighten up black line to better hide a cover up. The white will fade over time.

I've never heard that white ink is not removable. Does anyone have a link or sources with that information? Not that I'd want to remove mine...just curious.
Anyways, a lot of people say that white shows up on darker skin a lot better. However, I am a pale Irish redhead. I don't tan and I am covered with freckles. Anyways, I have an entire white tattoo on my ribs and it really pops from my skin and shows up really well. I haven't had to get it touched up and it still looks great. Actually, the blue in the piece next to it needs more touching up than anything.
The people I know with darker skin have black tattoos that show up good.

yeah, your skin tone is not going to make a great canvas for a white tattoo. it's not like paint that will stand out more dominantly on a darker canvas. the white will likely not look that white and over time will darken and brown so you'll end up with a faded brownish tiger, especially if it is exposed to the sun at all.
i would re-think that.
i have olive skin and i NEVER get out in the sun and my artist only uses white in tiny amounts to give little hilites.

Can you have them do a test spot or something before you get the whole tattoo done in just white? That seems like it would be the smartest thing to do. Also, be aware that white is the only color of tattoo ink that can't be removed through any method, so make doubly sure that this one looks exactly how you want it to!

White doesn't show up well - I'm very tan and I have a tattoo with a little white in it - the artist told me as I get tanner the white will disappear more.

White is completely unpredictable when used alone. It can hold up well on some and turn yellow and globby on others no matter who the artist is. Our experience in my studio is the darker the skin, the riskier the outcome.
It is more for highlighting and color mixing for brightness, etc.

I have had white used in a few of my tattoos. I have had to have them touched up more times than I can count. Expect it to fade quite a bit.

White does have a tendency to fade quicker than other colors and just doesn't stand out as much.

white tattoos dont show up that well, better on darker skin but you will need to get it retouched reguarly so the white stays as bright as possible.
