Klonopin or Xanax for anxiety and Prozac, Lexapro, Effexor, or Wellbutrin for depression are the most commonly used pills currently. My experience has been that Lexapro and Klonopin work well together, but eventually you can stop taking Klonopin and just take Lexapro. Lexapro and Prozac may lower anxiety when taken alone, but they can raise anxiety also. Anxiety pills don't work well with grapefruit or pomagrate juice. Those are the only dietary things you need to watch out for besides drinking enough water. I would assume you don't drink alcohol. If you do, you need to limit drinking while on the medication. I don't think any of the pills for depression are approved for teens, but that does not stop doctors from giving them to teens. The risk of not giving them far outweighs the risk of giving them. Personally I think they are usually safer for teens than adults, because teens usually are not on their own. Proper supervision is the key.

I would suggest a practical method / a normal traditional method that will do the exact work for you.Make a few friends who talk sense and doesn't keep advising you what you should or shouldn't do.Never tell anyone that you suffer from depression. It's good for you if you don't talk about this at all.Have some online "chat friends" who are sensible and real friendly ......not the ones who talk about all trash and vulgar stuff.
You may try playing some instruments or sing some songs for your own pleasure. If you are not good at these , it doesn't matter.Play some CDs and sing simultaneously with their tune.
Make it a habit to go out for a long walk twice a day.It will be nice if you find one nice partner (a boy or girl of your age) to accompany you.Just talk day to day normal things and never tell that you suffer from this or that.
It will be nice to bring such a good friend to your home and introduce to your parents. Then , let the friend feel free to talk with you and share some thoughts or knowledge of common interest.
You may also visit the house of such a friend if that one lives close by and can be relied upon.If the friend also reciprocates exactly the way you treat her/him, very soon , you will have the greatest gift of self esteem and confidence. The depression will just fly away .
Just try what I said.I am sure , this will work wonders for you.

Zoloft for me was a life saver! While pregnant 5 years ago I developed OCD Obsessive compulsive behavior and It worked wonders. I am still on it along with a anti anxiety medication. Not all meds work the same for everyone so you might have to experience a few different ones but If it does work you will feel so much better. Good Luck

There are a lot of options and like one person said they take a few weeks to take affect. Also keep in mind that some meds work better on some people than others and you might have to try a few before you find one that works for you. But don't give up hope, once you find one that works it can make a huge improvement in your life.

um, i was diagnosed with that last spring and i was put on Zoloft. it has the least amount of adiction to it. It just depends what the doctor thinks is the best for you. I never realized how much the pills would help till i went on them. It was amazing. I was truely and actually happy. My anxiety level went down, i didn't get as frustrated about things, i slept better at night, plus after a while, you just develop this great sense of self. i think you'll notice a big difference, plus you'll be a lot more focused on things that need to get done.

I agree with the other answers. Also remember it takes at least 6-8 weeks for the medication to build a constant blood level. Good Luck and hope you feel better soon!!
