It sounds like 'giving people the gift of song'.
'Tacky' doesn't even begin to cover 'the gift of service'... whoever thought that up ought to have his manlyhood removed, put in a matchbox and mailed to China.
Yuck!
Yuck!!!
Ps don't make customers aware of this or they'll demand their 'gift of service' or try to return it to get a refund.

If you work the floor, the "gift of service" starts with a smile and saying, “Hi, How may I help you?”
If they tell you what they are looking for help them find it. Or if it happens to be outside your department or you are not sure where it is take them to the proper department and someone who does know where the item is.
If hey say they are “just looking, or no not at the moment”
Say, “That’s all right, however if you should need anything I’ll be right over there please don’t hesitate to call me.”
(Then step away and don’t hover over them watching their every move.)
But then that "gift" should be practiced all year long.

The best thing you should is wear a sweet smile and ask softly "may I help you Sir/Ma'am?".....and make every customer feel comfortable with you in order to speak out to you what one wishes to buy.Try to make out from the very appearance of the customer , the item(s) one would like.Pick up a few and show them accompanying him/her or ake 'em to such corner of the shop that makes it easy for 'em to select their item(s).Let not the customer feel that you are dictating their choice/likeness......rather, give 'em a feeling that you simply want 'em make it easier for 'em them to chose the right one.Whenever the customer chooses and item or two , give 'em a smile of satisfaction that you do like their selection.
Once the sale is over , normal help as is done in order to take those items for payment, just help 'em a bit and all with a smile:))))
Smile makes each person feel happy. When the customer is ready to go out , smile again and say...."have a great day or wish such other befitting wish(es)".
Never enter into an argument with a customer.Remember, "the customer is always Right"....ok?
God Bless

Smile, be polite, and always have a cheery voice. Never groan, roll your eyes, or sigh heavily. Or mumble.
Put yourself in the customers shoes. How would you want to be treated by the person serving you?

Just be polite and treat them the way you'd like to be treated if you were the customer.
