Ever since I got my hamsters, I've been slowly weening them off of dry hamster food to a fresh fruit and vegetable diet. I've finally got them to the point where they now only eat fresh fruits and vegetables, [( I slowly introduced the new foods to them instead of just giving them a brand new diet so they wouldn't get sick from such an abrupt change )] and they've been doing just fine with it- In fact, towards the end of the changing process, they would only eat the fruits and just stuffed the dry food into the little corners of their cage!

Since they do fine with fruits and vegetables, I was wondering if they could eat tea leaves? Oolong, specifically. My little brother fed a leaf to one of the hamsters, and he ate it, and he hasn't been showing any signs of illness....

While looking up any possible sites with information on hamsters and tea leaves [( not surprisingly, I didn't find any information.... )], I read about feeding them the mixed hamster food and decided to start feeding them that in addition to their fruits and veggies again.

Actually, an all fresh fruit and veggie diet isn't really a good idea.. In the wild, they live off seeds, insects, and plant roots.
They need carbs, protein, vitamins and minerals. For his health, don't completely take him off his mixed seeds.

Tea (including oolong) isn't nutritious, but it isn't harmful. Just like with people. In some cases it could be medicinal, for respiratory problems.
