In your view, God picks your parents. When they conceive, he picks your soul's personality to a degree. God's even given credit for miscarriages, so I hear.

Tell me why your god would force any new soul to experience incest, beatings, and psychological torture from the only people in charge of its care.

Don't say he didn't force it - he chose it like he could have chose to make a mother infertile, or have a series of miscarriages.

And please... "to understand and help others who went through the same thing" does not justify anything. There should be no one to help.

But do tell me if you know someone who tried to be raped so that they'd have more understanding.

Thank you Nebtet! My question was not "why does god allow rape," my question was, why place a child in danger from the start?
People have the free will to rape, but they cannot rape what isn't there!
If you don't think God is responsible for putting souls in harm's way, tell me who is. You believe in a miraculous god that interferes with human lives all the time in the Old Testament, yet he is not in charge of choosing what soul goes where and if? Did he design a randomizer for that, to avoid blame? C'mon...

Simon - God does not save children, no matter how many times they call upon Jesus. CPS saves chidlren.

Shinigam - Thank you. But you're giving so much power to Satan, doesn't God have some part to play?

djmantx - God may not commit the act, but isn't he an accomplice? If I repeatedly dropped my child off at a known pedophile's house, isn't that child abuse in itself? What kind of person or entity would put a life inside the womb of a pedophile, or a wife of one?

winter - Thank you. I wish you the best.

J Moe - Ok, so who does? Satan picks our personalities?
Soul is not tortured - technically yes, but children are not Bhuddist monks who understand that they are not their bodies. Their soul is very much tortured. And children don't choose, either. There was a DrPhil on obese 3 year olds last week, determined to be entirely the mom's fault. So much for god-given health info.
Jesus did do something wrong, legally anyway. Kings are closest to god, and get their authority from that fact. Jesus was commmitting treason, and did not deny it.
DNA does not solve all rape cases - it's called a condom. And most get away by the victim being too ashamed to report it.

*Free Will* - Sigh... we can't fly! We can't breathe under water! Where's the free will in that? We all have limitations. If children could not be born to predictable offenders, we would still have plenty of "sin" in life. But.. not much of it would be the fault of bad parenting, and fault would lie squarely on that person. How interesting the world would be!

J Moe - Twin studies show that 50% of our personality and behaviors are genetic. My point is that god picks our parents. We probably have different definitions of "soul." I see it as the total sum of what "I" am without my physical body. Thus, only the body can be harmed, but the soul is hurt by the implications of knowing there is no one that can/will make them safe. If everyone had an inner knowing about Jesus, wouldn't we all be Christian? I agree with all of your other points.

Where is god in your world view? He doesn't pair souls with parents, he doesn't decide the genetic combination, he doesn't save anyone physically.. what DOES he do? He sounds either pretty powerless or pretty detached. None of it fits with the qualities ascribed to him in the Bible.

I can't answer why Christians do this because I am not one anymore. But I was raised by Christian parents who abused me without end. It's a wonder I didn't turn out completely f**cked up because of it. I asked myself that same question all the time as a kid and I never knew. Everyone from pastors to teachers to family and their friends treated me like I was a pathological liar just looking for attention since my parents would never do such a thing, not only because they loved me so much (yeah right) but because they were Christians and Christians don't abuse anyone. *rolls eyes* In public and around other people, they were fairly decent, as much as they could be. At home, where no one could see what was going on, I felt like I was in Mommy Dearest because of their sudden personality change. Which was another reason why no one believed a word I said.

I didn't feel I could trust anyone, especially them, and I certainly couldn't follow a God who found it acceptable. For the longest time, I figured that I must have done something really wrong at some point before birth for God to punish me in that way. There wasn't any other explanation I could come up with for it.

YOUR ANSWER: Ok, so who does? Satan picks our personalities?

MY RESPONSE: No one picks our personalities. They are developed as we grow up. Different things happen to us to cause us to have different personality traits. For example, if you like to swim, but one day you end up drowning and nearly die, it's quite natural you will be afraid of water. If someone picks you up and they happen to drop you, you will probably be afraid of heights. Circumstances shape our personalities.

YOUR ANSWER: Soul is not tortured - technically yes, but children are not Bhuddist monks who understand that they are not their bodies. Their soul is very much tortured.

MY RESPONSE: Their soul is NOT tortured. That is totally different from the body. As long as children are alive, they will suffer just like adults will. Do I think it's right? Of course not! But do I think it's God's fault? Of course not! It is simply a result of sin being in the world. As I stated earlier, the world is not perfect, nor are all people perfect. Therefore, you can't expect life on the earth to be perfect either.

YOUR ANSWER: And children don't choose, either. There was a DrPhil on obese 3 year olds last week, determined to be entirely the mom's fault. So much for god-given health info.

MY RESPONSE: I don't listen to what Dr. Phil says or does over what God's word says. That is his opinion, not necessarily the truth. I never said children choose their lives growing up. If that were true, most kids would choose to stay up as late as they wanted, they wouldn't go to school, and they'd probably have desserts for all 3 meals. That's what parents are there for. To help guide them in the way they should go. They make sure their children go to bed on time, get a good education, and eat well-balanced meals. The parents are the ones to blame when children are young and they don't know any better. However, when those children grow up, the responsibility is totally theirs. God given info, as you call it, is out there. It is up to us to decide what to do with it.

YOUR ANSWER: Jesus did do something wrong, legally anyway. Kings are closest to god, and get their authority from that fact. Jesus was commmitting treason, and did not deny it.

MY RESPONSE: Jesus did not SIN...He was sinless. That's what you don't realize. He did no wrong. Treason was committed against Jesus, yes! But can you tell me when Jesus admitted to betraying someone??

YOUR ANSWER: DNA does not solve all rape cases - it's called a condom. And most get away by the victim being too ashamed to report it.

MY RESPONSE: DNA does't solve all rape cases, but you have to admit that a lot of rape cases have been solved because of DNA. Although some rapists use condoms, that is not the only type of DNA. Normally during rapes, there is a fight. Meaning there will be skin and blood under fingernails as well. If the victim won't report the rape, how can something be done about it? Who's fault is that?! It is awful that that happened to them, but if they want the rapist off of the streets, then they have to report it. That is something they have to choose.

Child abuse is horrible. It is the mind of a person who supposedly have the responsible of raising a child who decides this child must endure this inhuman treatment.

God did not create the evil in people, they made the choice to do evil not God. And they will pay for it.

It is sad that many children are abused. With the evil in the world today it will become worse. Because of drug addiction and Satan is running the show for now!

God doesn't force people to do those things. People CHOOSE to do those things of thier own free will. When our Father in heaven sees what is going on it causes Him great anguish and pain. He is after all our Father. In fact in the Bible God says that it greived him terribly that he had to make man into flesh. But, He had to give everyone free will to choose thier own actions. He will not interfere, because if He did one could argue that, "it's not fair, so and so had more of a chance than I did-you intervened in that person's life". If you have children of your own stop and think on that a minute. The point in the eternity is to have peace not arguing, resentments, or ill will. He will only intervene if it is going to alter His ultimate plan or to guide one of His elect towards completing thier task of serving Him and bringing His plan to fruition. Which He can do, because His elect have already been justified before they were born into the flesh based on what they did during the katabole when satan fell from grace. The whole point of this flesh age is for everyone to decide-Who are you gonna love? God or satan?

Satan wages war upon the ones God loves most.
He is despicable.
To anyone sexually abused before knowing what that is, is a heinous spiritual crime, and the effects remain as a blight upon that soul, which would need constant tending and cleansing. I believe 100% that Mary Magdalene and Mary of Egypt were two such women.

Christ comes to heal the wounded. He did not come to heal the righteous. I am sorry if such things occured for you or someone close to you.

Child abuse is one of the result of the effects of a fallen world - a world that has gone astray from God as a result of sin and its cancerous spread into the lives of fallen man. When man chose to disobey God and to live their lives apart from God, the result is what you see in the world around you - child abuse, rapes, murders, wars, etc. It is not God who chooses for us because He gave us the free will to choose for ourselves. It is therefore because of our own "choices" that the world is in the state it is today - a world filled with hatred, with all kinds of perversities, a world gone mad!

Don't blame God - we are the ones ultimately responsible!

This is another example of "blame God when bad things happen"
For the love of pete, when are people going to start taking responsibility for their own actions, instead of blaming God?!! The Good Lord gave people free will, that doesn't mean they always make the right decisions. It's awful convenient to blame God when bad things happen and then Praise God when good things happen.

God does not choose evil. It seems that you believe that all of the world is predestined, It is not we are only predestined in that Jesus would provide us a savior. Sin entered the world by man.
Evil in the world is a reult of man's disobedience to God.
Sin cause these problems you speak of and the answe r is that God paid the price to destroy sin and death, there will be NO sin and NO death in God's heaven.

Jesus is not the cause of the problem but the solution.

standard Christian answer ...

free will. that would be the free will of the abusive parents, of course, not the helpless and abused child so doesn't really answer your question at all.

oh wait... maybe it's their god's free will to insert an innocent infant into a hellish situation. yeah! that must be what they mean.

PS. look at these Christian answers. not one of them actually addresses where the child's will comes into play. the child is born to the parent's their god decides and their god, being all knowing, would know what would happen to the child and yet somehow "free will" remains their pat answer even tho the child has no power and no free will. they ignore the victim in their rush to exonerate their god's culpability in giving that child to those particular parents.

God gave everyone a free will. People choose to abuse there children. God could have said you can't do this you can't do that and made everyone robots but he let us have a choice. Some parents make horrible choices which is child abuse.
