mr 6th answer....
the caprice came in 1992 with the 5.7 350 engine with 205 hp... and the 5.0 too but the 5.7 is talken too much faster than the 5.0
and i confirmed it driving both.....
but for the 9c1 only !!!!
i´m surprised because....i have other two car...: bmw 528 1997, kia amanti 2006
and i must say the caprice accelerates better than these....
at top speed i think it lose but in... in acceleration it win!

I believe the Mustang is faster.
According to Edmunds.com the 1992 Caprice only came with a 5.0 Liter V8 engine not a 5.7 Liter, so I am not sure if I am comparing the correct car. But the car that was listed only had 170HP and 255 lb-ft of torque while weighing just under 4,000 lbs for a curb weight, and a lot over 4,000lbs for gross vehicle weight.
The 95 Mustand with the V6 engine with only 145HP but did the 0-60mph in 9.9 seconds and the quarter mile in 17.3 seconds. Whereas the 92 Caprice Classic LTZ did 0-60mph in 10.3 seconds and the 1/4 mile in 17.4 seconds which I believe is faster than the Caprice you are thinking of.

The Mustang would accelerate faster, if it had the 5 speed manual transmission. The top speeds would be about the same as the Caprice is quite a heavy boat.

Gotta be the Caprice. Fords V6's are weak on power. My Ranger V6 wouldn't pull a green string out of a cat's rear end.
